I went to a drag pageant last night at the local gay bar. It was pretty entertaining. The queens were working hard for that crown.
I used to go to that bar all the time back in the day. Lots of dancing and drinking and smoking went on. I certainly don't go out as much as I used to and I haven't been there in over a year before last night.
Felt quite old as I watched all the skinny gay boys slithering around each other trying to out pose one another, and all the young lesbians in their wife beaters and boy shorts shaking their bieber cuts to the side.

You know that song, "You are my sunshine..."? That song used to throw me into terror as a little kid. It would start out all nice and reassuring:

And then the next verse, I don't even want to go there. Still today when I hear that song, I get this queasy, doomed feeling.

I learned this in Guatemala, and I've seen people in Mexico and the American SW do it, too.

Wring out two wet washcloths and put them in the freezer. Once they're frozen, drape one over the top of your head or lay it across the back of your neck. Alternate them in and out of the freezer so you always have a fresh, cold one.

I mowed a lawn in Palm Springs doing this. It's great if you really need to get something done, in the heat.
