Well, I'm completed the 35 min cardio workout (from starting stretch to ending stretch). I managed to keep up with about 98% of the exercises and only got confused on a couple.

I hate squats more than any other exercise. I have a squat machine—I still hate them in my leg routine which is once a week

Squats are always a challenge and weighted ones I don't think I can do because of back issues. I used to do the leg press and because of cycling could easily do 250lbs+. It has been quite a while since then. However, I do lunges now and I still hate those.

I just finished my free weight/resistance band training this afternoon and got even farther than before (35 min of 45 min). So still getting there. I'm at least keeping up with the reps and exercise. I had a vegan protein smoothie before that and am feeling good (although my arms are like rubber right now).

Just have to keep at it, even the exercises we don't like!

I got a kettlebell. Just one, since I can trade off arms and then use it to tone both simultaneously. It's lime green and I've dubbed it Satan.

It's still sitting in the box though. I look at it like and it looks at me like and I look at it like and it looks at me like and I look at it like and it looks at me like and I look like this and it looks like and I look like this

*sigh*

Default Shredding

I am seriously patting myself on the back because one of my goals this year was to be able to post something to this thread!

Another goal was to treat my body better and to start working out again. All of that being said, my youngest daughter told me about a Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred workout DVD. I don't watch TV much, but I'm familiar with The Biggest Loser - which is the show that Jillian is on and trains the contestants.

My daughter tells me that "Sure Momma, no problem you could totally do this workout - it's not that hard."

Mind you - my daughter is a size 5. And prior to having her children she never went above a size 0. I'm thinking she has a pretty good grasp of what I'm capable of doing in regard to exercising. Let me just say: NOT!

So, last Wednesday I excitedly went to the store and picked up the DVD. I brought it home and read the packaging. On Thursday, I sat in front of the TV and watched the DVD. And finally, on Friday I started the workout.

Suffice it to say that my daughter is a big fat liar (even though she's only a size 5). I thought I was going to die!!!! But it wasn't until the next day when my body was aching that the effect started to sink in. I was in some serious pain and considering having a little talk with my daughter about exaggeration.

I've stayed with the workout everyday (with exception of my day of rest) - loving the way I was feeling - even though I was in pain. I'm relishing in the way my body is feeling again. I have more energy and I'm starting to feel allllll sinewy again!

Everyday has been an adventure and I go through this workout knowing it only takes 20 pretty doggone intense minutes and I'm done!

I'm proud of me! Here I am - in the WorkOut Zone!

I bought Mr. Strutt and Katie, our daughter, a Wii for Christmas and I have to say, I've become completely addicted to Wii Fit Plus. Between diet and doing the Wii exercises, I'm down seven pounds since the beginning of the year.

w00t! I just finished my 35 min sculpting/toning/workout video. It's pretty good at using resistance bands. This has been perfect for me when I'm on the road just as much as when I'm at home.

I've been pretty good about keeping to good meal sizes and healthier meals, although I do slip now and again (especially on the road) back into some soda stuff.. :P

Between my week in Toronto and my week here in Vegas, I've been good about keeping my workouts going. I've been doing extensive walking (tonight I spent it playing tourist walking from the Mandalay to the Belagio and back again). Since I historically haven't been doing any exercise when teaching online or in the classroom, this is a huge improvement over the past. Additionally, I've been doing the the strength training and that is a near immediate results (visually).

I've been a bit better on the snacks but not great (they offer too many free sweets and sodas at the training facilities and not enough water). I, at least, try to ensure that I limit myself to no more than 1 can of diet soda so that brings down what I drink significantly but I need to remove it from my diet completely (I had done it before for nearly a year).

I'm doing 30-60 minutes a day of cardio with stretching before and after about 4 times a week now and eating much better. I enter my info into thedailyplate.com and it breaks down my fat, sodium, cholesterol, sugar, fiber, protein, and calories each day. When you enter any fitness for the day, it recalculates it into your food intake automatically. I like that, being that I'm part sloth.

I need to knock off the kidding around and really get into some weight resistance exercises. I've got the kettle bell *grimace* and some light hand weights and a chair (for my triceps and suck ass balance). I've been super slacking on my ab work too, which is normally quite easy for me. I've just been too lazy.

I think it's a case of 'at least I'm doing SOMEthing' right now.

Default *kicking and screaming*

I have been so very good with working out! I had to take an 18 day hiatus because I strained the rhomboid muscle when I was shoveling snow back in mid February.

I worked out last night for the first time in those 18 days off. O. M .G. I loved how it felt to work out again...to feel that burn, to gasp for breath b/c I'm being pushed to my limits.

I woke up this morning and have yearned all day to do my workout, but was busy with one thing or another. Now here it is 10 PM and I can't do my workout b/c I'll wake up my downstairs neighbor.

I'm feeling like a bit of a failure. grrrrrrr.

This past week, I saw my trainer for the first time and was evaluated and then had my first session. Holy smokes, it HURT!

You know you're out of shape when it takes two and a half days for the soreness to ebb. Blech. I got back in the gym today (for weights....I've been doing my cardio all along) and it wasn't as bad. Of course, I'm on my own for a few weeks until my next session, so I'm probably cheating with form, but I'm following the recommended exercises and the weights assigned to me. I'm taking the good wherever I can see it since I sincerely loathe the weights. Any progress is good, in my book.

My abs are back into our old love-hate relationship and I expect them to be washboard slick in a couple of months.

I'm so mad at myself. I've been paying for a gym membership since Sept. and haven't used it barely at all. I have been so tired all winter. I feel so guilty and cant seem to jump start myself to getting a routine going again (not to mention the money down the drain!).

Ugh.

For me, getting there is the biggest hurdle. Once I'm there, I'm good. I tool about doing this or that or whatever I want (until the evil weights entered my life again, that is) and everything is fine.

Your energy will improve once you get into it.

Still hammering away at crossfit. It's been kicking my ass. I will say I've only missed one workout in the last month. Every morning is something new and that's pretty cool. Some of the stuff I just can't do. My gym doesn't have rings and probably every 10 days the work out calls for rings and I have to ad lib. I can't do double unders, [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TfjmxeUsIs"]YouTube- Double Unders demo[/nomedia], but I keep trying. And one day I'll be a big dog.

One of my clients gave me her Brazil Butt Lift workout before I went on vacation last week.

Seriously.

If I ever stop laughing hard enough to actually do it, I'll let y'all know my booty progress

Well....I own my own weights and gym which I love having. But because I suffer from severe PTSD, and I'm moving through that trauma, I haven't been able to workout.

Well, I started up again yesterday because i really miss it. But today was the first day I started Shaun T's Insanity program which full blown cardio like you have never seen it. I thought I was going to die. I had to pause it probably 5-6 times to catch my breath. There's exercises on there that I had never seen and they are incredible.

This is a 60-day cardio program to change your weight and body dramatically.
No bullshit, it's an amazing program. There are 10 different disks, each having different 25-minute programs as you advance over a 60-day period. No weights or any equipment is required.

It's going to be rough. I'm an ex-smoker, 4 years now, and I felt every bit of breathlessness doing this program even after 4 years of quitting.

I'm also 53, but i have no problem of letting that stand in the way. I'm still strong enough to endure and build up with my weightlifting program.

Ive been working out as many days as possable untill something in my back/nec or shoulder has a hissy. My work outs are scedualed as two on one off but if I can do more days in a row I will but need to becareful cause the back injury is a bitch when its on a roll.I have a bow flex, tredmill, exersise bike and a weight bench with free weights as ell as a tennis ball with a retreaver band on it ( it comes back when u hit it) wich I play against the garage wall.
Wish I had a squat and leg press machine, wich is he next thing im going to get.Squats can be dificult but I use a really snug weight belt and that helps a lot.
I loat 42 pounds last year and have another 50 to go to get back to 200lbs,if I lose more great if not I will be just as happy. Not trying to be skinny just healthy.
