Today was surprise inspection day. A day that my managers dread months in advance and are always a teensy bit on edge because...hello...it's a SURPRISE as to when the inspector will show.

Also, they don't announce it immediately. It's like a secret shopper deal. They come, they check in, they get the scoop on the property and in the morning, they pounce. Quality control with a kick, basically.

We passed but that's not the fabulous, joy-inducing part. I....*me*....I got singled out for being...and I quote...."definitely one of the top ten friendly desk clerks I've ever met and I worked for 10 years at luxury hotels and spas and now spend about 20 nights a month in hotels doing this"....in case no one else was doing the math, that's a LOT of fuckin' people, ya'll.

And I'm in the top 10.

It's the BEST way (short of receiving a raise, which won't happen, but is nice to daydream about) to end my Friday. I am now officially ready for my weekend. After the morning I've had, this is just what I needed.

Joy has come in the form of admiring the bouquet of wildflowers I picked yesterday afternoon.

The first joy of every day is..

The coffee being made, my cup and coffee fixings sitting in front of the coffee maker just waiting for me...

It's the lil things that she does knowing that I love, but probably wouldn't do them for myself that bring such joy...

Today is my beautiful wife's 50th birthday. I was lucky to catch her before she went to sleep this morning and kiss her sweet face. I love you GG, you have brought more joy and love in my life these past ten years than I could have ever thought possible.

... Unrolling and trimming our new 4" memory foam mattress topper (bought a king, trimmed to fit our queen bed *perfectly* and turned the 'trim' into four memory foam pillows. I rock.)
... doing some bonding work with my green cheek conure who is bonded more to my Daddy than to me so it takes WORK to remind him that I'm an important part of the 'flock' too. LOL

Watching several little kids walk by my house on the way to our newly constructed children's parks (fantastic green manufactured equipment and safety measures installed!). Mainly, it was the fact that there were Latino, African American, Asian, Turkish, Afghani, Iranian, and Black African families enroute. A couple of white families, too. Hummm... no Native Americans, however. Big smiles and lots of skipping up the sidewalk. Many songs being sung. My dog was a little wiggle machine looking at all the kids! The remodeling of the park was a joint effort of the city and private citizens working together.

OMG! I live in a neighborhood that would be a Tea Party member's nightmare! Good!

Getting my highly anticipated package from the Apple store yesterday and having fun installing my new dash/windshield mount for my iPhone, so now I am completely hands free!

Getting the Navigation software from AT&T to work so I can find my way to Darien, GA on Saturday...

Knowing that in two days, I will be heading north to pick up my oldest niece and nephew from their mother...

Treating myself to a second cup of coffee this morning.
