Open eyes work through the pain

No more counts
Pain has won so count me out

Carefully lather
Shaving bar in cup with brush
Lather up after warm water wash
Shave with straight razor
Sharpened till it would make Mad Sweeney proud
Careful with blade against your throat
Calm steady
This is the true test of a man
Finish up rinse face
Clean the blade oil the blade
No rust on this tool
Look in mirror
My face is clean and smooth
I am at peace

The world is hectic
Madness makes it go round
Yet you are beyond it
Embrace it a wild lover
Though strangely predictable
You smile
Kick up your feet
And watch the clouds go by

It is madness
To stare longingly at blank page
Laying on ink stained desk
Like a lover who has neglected you
Yet still craving the feel of silken flesh you follow
Desperation dogging you
Until finally with shaking hand you pick up the pen
Like a razor you lay it to your soul
And you rip out words that only angels and demons should ever hear
Until with tear and sweat stained agony you have given your release
And you throw away the pen in disgust
Your just another junkie in this fucked up world
And your addiction seems so innocent
Except in the dark of night where sleep won't come
Unless you pick up that pen and scream in silence

Leave blank a page
To make scream the mind
Until you write in white on white
Invisible words
Over and over
Layers on layers
Written but not seen
And never spoken
All those words that tear at you
Until you have to stand so carefully still
Mustn't show how they hurt
When some are spoken from such innocent lips
Who can know that it is a dirty word in your ears but you?

In the forest of the night
I glimpsed a tiger burning bright
In his rage and my despair
He happened to catch me standing there
I did not run
Though he gave chase
I stared that tiger in the face
In my fear I was surprised
To see humanity in his eyes
So as I stood
He did kneel
And in my mind I knew he did feel
He was sad for he was real
