My answers to 40 Questions....
1. What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?
Have ‘Me’ time. 2. What's been on your mind most lately? How am I going to get where I want to go in my life? 3. In order of importance, how would you rank: happiness, money, love, health, fame? health, happiness, love, money, fame. 4. Right now, at this moment, what do you want most? What I want most right now it to have my health back and the ability to walk pain-free. 5. What word best describes the way you’ve spent the last month of your life? Busy. 6. What is the #1 motivator in your life right now? The knowledge that if my goals take too long my parents will not see it happen. 7. In one sentence, who are you? Wow! One sentence…I am the authentic, eclectic, original Me! How is that? LOL! 8. What do you want to be known for? My compassion, intelligence, and the ability to overcome adversities in my life while staying happy. 9. If you had to move 3000 miles away, what one thing would you miss most? The wilderness area where we lived when I grew up. 10. In one year from today, how do you think your life will be different? Hopefully, I will have shed quite a few pounds, be walking again, and be employed by the State of Pennsylvania. 11. Who makes you feel good about yourself? I personally believe that is MY job not others. 12. What are the top three qualities you look for in a friend? Integrity, Respect, and Open Communication. 13. What has fear of failure stopped you from doing? Fear of failure has stopped me from returning to work now. 14. What is something you have always wanted since you were a kid? To find some way to pay back my parents for adopting me given the fact that my life could have turned out so much differently than the life they afforded me. 15. What stands between you and what you want? My physical limitations right now stands between me and what I want. 16. What do you do when nothing else seems to make you happy? When I get down and nothing seems to lift me up I have responded in different ways. Sometimes I sit in pity and cry, sometimes I pray, sometimes I busy myself to not think about it, sometimes I try to involve myself with others so that I can do something more positive with that energy. 17. When did you first realize that life is short? I first realized life was short when my ex of 13 years passed away in 2007 from a heart attack. She was just 46 years old and our children at the time were 19, 22, and 24. 18. What do you need to spend more time doing? Exercise is what I really need to spend more time doing if I am honest about it. 19. What issues do you continually refuse to confront? Wow! Not sure. A year ago I could have said my health because I was smoking and was not eating well. However, now I have quite smoking and am trying to be more conscious of what I ingest so I am not sure how to answer this question. I have slowly been confronting the issues that I have and trying to get better. 20. What’s something a lot of people do that you disagree with? It really upsets me that people feel the need to lie, steal, and deliberately hurt others. 21. What’s a common misconception people have about you? A common misconception that people have about me is that I do not let go of the past. I really disagree with that because our past is who shapes us into the persons we are today. There is a big difference from living in the past and recognizing how that causes our actions and reactions of today. I AM however very totally self-aware. 22. What’s something no one can take away from you? My thoughts, beliefs, feelings and education are all things nobody can take away from me. 23. What is something that you would hate to go without for a day? This may sound very immature of me, but at this juncture of my life and having had my parents for so many years I would hate to go a day without them in my life. My father is now 93 and mother will be 88 in October. I have been very blessed but to be honest they are very important to me. 24. When you look into the past, what do you miss the most? Ugh. Close your ears I am sure you will be shocked if you hear this. I miss school. LOL! 25. What memory from this past year makes you smile the most? My graduation and passing the national licensure to be a rehabilitation counselor has been my best accomplishment in the past year. 26. What’s the number one change you need to make in your life in the next twelve months? Weight loss is the biggest change I need to make in my life over the next year. 27. If not now, then when? There will not be a when if it is not done now. 28. What have you done that you are truly proud of? Quit smoking and earned my master’s degree and national licensure definitely makes me proud of my accomplishments. 29. What’s something new you recently learned about yourself? I can truly overcome all obstacles and be the best Me I can be. 30. What do you want to remember forever? Love and to be loved and to remember how that felt. 31. What could society do without? I honestly think technology has been society’s biggest downfall because it has led people to lose a sense of community. People truly don’t give a damn about others anymore….that is said rather loose tongue in cheek because I know some people do but the overall lack of community sucks. 32. What is one thing right now that you are totally sure of? I am absolutely sure that despite what happens in my world the new day will always come. 33. If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be? Be the change you wish to see in the world and live the dream you wish for your life even if you only make one step toward it each day. 34. What’s something you said you’d never do, but have since done? I always said I would not cheat on a partner and I did. That is not something I am proud of and it was definitely a learning experience since she died before I had a chance to make amends. 35. What’s something you changed your mind about when you grew older? I definitely changed my mind when I grew older about material possessions and their worth. At a younger age those things meant everything to me. Today they mean nothing because they are just things. 36. What didn’t last forever, but was still worth your while? Past relationships regardless of how they ended. They were all worth it because at one time it was what I valued and wanted. In the end they became learning experiences who shaped who I am today. 37. If you could go back in time and tell a younger version of yourself one thing, what would you tell? For some reason this question makes me think of the song Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. But what I would say is live life without worry. Just do your best and move forward. 38. If you knew you were dying in 60 seconds, what would your last words be? I would tell those who meant the most to me that I loved them and ask them to please allow themselves to be happy with their remaining time. 39. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done? I would hope I have done more, but I feel like it will be I have said more. 40. What questions do you often ask yourself? Do I let those who are closest to me know on a daily basis how much they mean to me? Will the obstacles to my vision of my success ever stop? |

1) What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?
I am better at recalibrating my aptitudes and attitudes on a daily basis.2) What's been on your mind most lately? The importance of being in the present moment and enjoying life as fully as possible.3) In order of importance, how would you rank: happiness, money, love, health, fame? Health, happiness, love, money. Health, Love, Happiness, Money, followed by zero concern for wanting or needing fame of any kind (I can live without that type of recognition).4) Right now, at this moment, what do you want most? To know where I put my favorite suntan oil, since I can't find it anywhere5) What word best describes the way you’ve spent the last month of your life? 70% (Balance) 30% (Sheer craziness)6) What is the #1 motivator in your life right now? I think it's a combination of three things: Music, Art, Nature7) In one sentence, who are you? A very resourceful woman.8) What do you want to be known for? That people in my life would remember me for the resilient soul that I am and that I could do most anything I put my mind to, no matter the situation.9) If you had to move 3000 miles away, what one thing would you miss most? The natural beauty of where I have lived for the past 20+ years: The trees, the rivers, the mountains, the basalt lined Columbia Gorge, the waterfalls or natural hot springs, the coastline of the Pacific Northwest, the climate - pearly gray skyscapes or intermittent days of dazzling sunshine, the eclectic community within the greater area of where I currently live.10) In one year from today, how do you think your life will be different? The one thing I have learned over time is that even with the best laid plans, there's the possibility that life a year from now could be as good or even better; but certainly and hopefully, no worse than today.11) Who makes you feel good about yourself? Me: I actively take care of myself (I value myself entirely).12) What are the top three qualities you look for in a friend? Kindheartedness, a compassion-based perspective, sensitivity13) What has fear of failure stopped you from doing? Fear of failure has never been a driving force in my life - I'm not afraid of failure or failing anything I put my mind to. I don't think much of anything stops me from developing my own brand of success (if that's what we're talking about).14) What is something you have always wanted since you were a kid? I think it's important to let my own inner child out to play on a consistent basis because even as a child, I was filled with wonder, curiosity -- I lived for 'show and tell' moments in life, as a child.15) What stands between you and what you want? 16) What do you do when nothing else seems to make you happy? I play the 'happy' game and do something that makes me happy.17) When did you first realize that life is short? This might seem strange to most, but I feel that I've always had an inner knowing about life never being long enough or filled with enough time to do things in life and consequently, as I've aged, I tend to sense timing issues much more intensely - than say, compared to, maybe five years ago.18) What do you need to spend more time doing? 19) What issues do you continually refuse to confront? n/a20) What’s something a lot of people do that you disagree with? n/a21) What’s a common misconception people have about you? That I'm talented at cocktail parties.22) What’s something no one can take away from you? The way I feel about myself.23) What is something that you would hate to go without for a day? Water (as well as love and tenderness).24) When you look into the past, what do you miss the most? n/a25) What memory from this past year makes you smile the most? The random growth spurts of my youngest son's intellectual acuity26) What’s the number one change you need to make in your life in the next twelve months? The ability to go down to the beach more often than I usually go.27) If not now, then when? As soon as it's possible...28) What have you done that you are truly proud of? Earning a bachelors and masters degree in just under 7 years,29) What’s something new you recently learned about yourself? I never used to give much attention to my spontaneous side because I've always felt like I was spontaneous. But lately, I've learned that I'm not quite as willing to be as spontaneous as I used to be (which I feel is positive - I have a healthy regard for me).30) What do you want to remember forever? I'll get back to you on that.31) What could society do without? I should think that humans could use a bit more love and understanding.32) What is one thing right now, that you are totally sure of? It's absolutely gorgeous here today - ton's of sunshine and it's not too hot or too cold and the birdsong is absolutely mesmerizing (it's the only thing I've listened to, today).33) If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be? My feeling is that if I spend as much energy as possible in taking care of me and living life as responsibly as possible, then living by example is probably going to be the best heard message than anything I could ever say.34) What’s something you said you’d never do, but have since done? n/a35) What’s something you changed your mind about when you grew older? Marriage. I used to think that marriage mattered and it does to a degree (although that's a small degree). What's changed for me, concerning marriage, is that I don't think of marriage as something necessary to the health and wealth of a thriving relationship of romantic means. I'm not fond of the concept or idea of marriage as marriage is currently understood in terms of present day social and cultural practices.36) What didn’t last forever, but was still worth your while? The benefit of sitting by the beach on the ocean and watching for whales or other sentient beings. The good feelings I carry away from an outing on the beach always seems to be worth while.37) If you could go back in time and tell a younger version of yourself one thing, what would you tell? n/a38) If you knew you were dying in 60 seconds, what would your last words be? If no one is with me in that particular moment, it won't matter what I say. But if someone I love is with me, I'd ask them to watch over my boys and always be there for them, no matter what.39) When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done? I try to live as balanced as possible; even when it's a terribly unpredictable process - the art of living a good life.40) What questions do you often ask yourself? The one thing I try to always keep in mind is the idea expressed by Bertrand Russell: to always 'hang a question mark' on things in life that need a bit of extra care or careful thought given to complicated ideas.

Holy Crap, that was a long quiz!
1. What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?
-A greater self-awareness and I'm a teeny bit better at speaking my mind. 2. What's been on your mind most lately? -My life has changed so much in the past year; been turned upside down, really. And that, despite all of that, just how much more change is yet to be implemented. 3. In order of importance, how would you rank: happiness, money, love, health, fame? -Happiness, health, love, money; fame is not something to which I aspire. 4. Right now, at this moment, what do you want most? -Something to eat. My tummy is rumbling! 5. What word best describes the way you’ve spent the last month of your life? -Tenterhooks. 6. What is the #1 motivator in your life right now? -Finding meaning, purpose, and contentment through intellectual, spiritual, and creative expression. 7. In one sentence, who are you? -I am someone who strives to walk a good path. 8. What do you want to be known for? -I hope to be known as someone who is kind, compassionate, and fun. 9. If you had to move 3000 miles away, what one thing would you miss most? -lol, that depends. 3000 miles in which direction? 10. In one year from today, how do you think your life will be different? -I prefer to just enjoy being where I am now, yet filled with hope for a good future. 11. Who makes you feel good about yourself? -I derive my sense of self-esteem through my accomplishments. 12. What are the top three qualities you look for in a friend? -Sense of humor, kindness, and strength of character. 13.What has fear of failure stopped you from doing? -So much. 14. What is something you have always wanted since you were a kid? -Love, a sense of connection to others; whether it be via family, friends, and/or a lover. It is something I never really had growing up and I have always deeply felt that lack. 15. What stands between you and what you want? -Everyone else is mean to me and a jerk! lol, just kidding; deep connection just doesn't come naturally to me. It is something I need to work on. 16. What do you do when nothing else seems to make you happy? -Sleep, a long walk, a drive with the [convertible] top down, sitting by the ocean, stargazing. 17. When did you first realize that life is short? -It is never far from my mind. 18. What do you need to spend more time doing? -More time doing and less time pontificating about what I intend to do! 19. What issues do you continually refuse to confront? -I hate confrontation, lol. I am willing to QUIETLY reflect on most any issue. I may or may not actually do something about it, but I don't always feel like sharing it. Like right now, for instance, lol. I think I'm giving you all plenty of ammun...I mean, "getting to know all of you fine people." 20. What’s something a lot of people do that you disagree with? -Mean-spirited gossip! I hate it. 21.What’s a common misconception people have about you? -People often assume I am aloof, indifferent, or just outright don't care. What’s something you changed your mind about when you grew older? -See question 34. 36. What didn’t last forever, but was still worth your while? -Nothing in this lifetime lasts forever and regrets are a waste of our precious time. 37.
