Default The Global Warming Climate Crisis: The Good, Bad & Very Ugly.

Over the past few weeks, I have seen lots of news coverage concerning terrifying outcomes concerning the on-going climate crisis.

We have rising sea water issues, heat index issues, clean drinking water issues, farm lands so dry no farmer can mass produce crops to feed people anywhere in the world.

This week, the entire Left Coast of the US is enduring heat waves that no one can endure (front page headlines over on CNN, right now).

Yesterday I saw headline news concerning the state of California, how gasoline type cars will be banned in 10 years or so. That is scary because right now there is serious water concerns for not only the Southwest of the US, but you cant have electric car charging stations when electricity is still grnerated primarily by water. Solar and wind energy is on the rise, but water issues will be the most powerful war over natural resource management... i think, by far.

Anyway, I felt led to create a forum board column for members to participate in, as we all try to do what we can to survive.

Feel free to tell us how climate change is impacting you where you live, ok?

In Oregon, we are enduring terrible heat waves but last winter and this past spring the neglected news story was being inundated with crazy, bad a$$ rainfall and near flooding emergencies. This winter may well be the harbinger of bad weather news.

Default Hurricane Helene aftermath + news concerning climate change

I found an article at The Guardian which exposed, back in 2020 — just four years ago during the last days of the first reign of terror by DJT & enablers, which spoke to how DJT silenced scientists warnings of dire consequences if steps taken to reduce carbon and oil-based emissions to save our planet.

https://www.theguardian.com/environm...administration

The link to the above article speaks about how DJT silenced his whistleblowers.

Hurricane Helene clocked in as a Cat 4 storm before it hit the big bend area of Florida and has since inundated the interior of the southeast sector of the US.

For reference: Hurricane Katrina (2005) was clocked as a cat 5 stage hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico but when it landed it was clocked as a cat 3 hurricane.

People are suffering from climate change effects: heat index nobody can live through, floods brought on by “ thousand year rain events,” and soon —if not addressed in immediate ways— there will be food shortages and clean water shortages, as well as loss of community and small business that keep entire communities employed (…).

Just imagine right now if DJT and his GOP wingnut subordinates in positions of “power” would leave everybody in dire straits! DJT is no leader. He killed off legislation and scientists because, of course (gigantic eyeroll), he’s “God”.

My deepest desire right now is for people to remember how the Trump administration didn’t care one iota for the loss and suffering people endured during his lapse of leadership (because he’s no leader, duh), and how he is a gross danger to our country and the world at large.

Default Rick Scott

is an evil bastard!

When asked about what he believes is causing massive storm surge responds with "...no one knows the reason."

Are you fucking kidding me?!

Project 2025 set to break up NOAA into smaller portions. Well, guess what? With the hurricanes getting more and more powerful, dangerous, prolific, we don't need this!

Default Scientists raise concerns

Scientists raise concerns after first-of-its-kind weather event shakes Earth for 9 days: 'We are in uncharted waters'

What's happening?

According to The Guardian, a landslide in Greenland triggered a megatsunami that sent seismic waves throughout the world. The landslide was a result of Earth getting warmer. The glacier that originally supported a 1,200-meter mountain peak started to melt and could no longer hold it up. This caused the peak to collapse into the fjord below, resulting in massive waves that led to seismic waves on Earth's surface.

The "extraordinary event" was the first to be recorded in eastern Greenland and destroyed a two-century-old Inuit site. Though no one inhabits the area, this indicates that an event like this hasn't happened in a very long time. It was also a stroke of pure luck that cruise ships and visiting scientists had vacated the area a few weeks before, so nobody was injured.

"We are in uncharted waters scientifically, because we don't really know what a tsunami does to a cruise ship," Kristian Svennevig of the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland told The Guardian.

In fact, it took 68 scientists across 40 institutions in 15 different countries to uncover the mystery of the event by using data collected by various sensors all over the world. Since the discovery, the research has been published in Science.

The MAGATs are still yelling "drill baby drill" stupid fucks.

I want to thank you for starting and participating in this thread. It started making me think past my garden. I’ve kind of isolated myself in the last few years, some from feeling my age and some from feeling pretty overwhelmed after Trump And Covid. Like I stuck my head in a hole and didn’t want to see past. But this thread has allowed me to explore. Baby steps. My garden club is very much tied to our local rotary club, which is giving a presentation to the community on the Local effects of climate change. It’s tomorrow and I’m going to Attend.

I think we need to clearly understand this is going to be our new world. We broke it and now we must buy it or at least the insurance companies must. As we don't even know what to fully expect, this past year has shown us how grim it will be. Prayers to the families and people now living this new reality.
