I had a, small town Midwestern, friend attend about 10 yrs ago. She did great. Learned a lot an liked the experience.
I think. like most things, it depends on your attitude and willingness to work hard to get what you want/need. If he does have a focus that he Really Wants to do, not just eh ok maybe this....then it is a good and quick way to get focused training in that field.

Thanks everybody for your additional input. I don't know that sheltered would be a word I would use for The Boy, because he has had to put up with me as a mother. LOL But in the sense y'all are using it, he really is a relatively good kid and if he wasn't 6'7' he would definetly become a target I think. He's got a mouth on him, more condescending, so probably some of the street kids would shank his a$$.
Since this he has gotten a job, that for a 17 y/o pays really good. It's food industry and he has already said "I don't know how people do this their whole life. I definetly want to go back to school." I think he is going to take online classes. He's still really young and with online, I can log on and help remind him of his deadlines. I'm also going to get him tested for ADD and see if this helps him with remembering what's due and when. He's smart enough for the education, he just doesn't follow through. And that is probably age too. As long as he's working, even if it's not in something he likes. He's learning. Learning how hard it is, how it sucks to get stuck in a deadend job. Thanks for the help, my village, The Planet. A |
