a small roast in the crockpot
covered with a jar of salsa
shred apart then add a can of black beans & a can of corn

You can either eat it as a stew or on warm tortillas like tacos. Yeah, we're going with the taco idea!

**OMG, this was soooo freaking good! I added a dab of sour cream & shredded cheese to the tacos **

Tonight, we are having....

grilled boneless pork chops
red potatoes roasted in the oven with EVOO and seasonings
and a garden salad with cucumbers & tomatoes (and that yummy dressing from Olive Garden)

Happily crunching my corn flakes and milk at this moment. Kevin is really eyeing my bowl when I put it down. He knows when the cornflakes are gone, he will get to lap up the milk. Poor thing, I believe he may think I am starving him but the vet at the Emergency Animal Clinic told me Sunday that I MUST get 30 pounds off my boy. Then went on to say no more than 1500 calories a day and that includes milk bone treats, table food and everything I let him put in his mouth. Kevie does not complain but the let-down in his eyes when I put the dry dog food down tells his story. He is a pretty funny fellow - you can always know what he is thinking because he wears his feelings on his face. Never any guesswork! :)

Pure evil, I say. Pure evil. But only because once I eat one of them, NOBODY gets any. I will eat them all. :girleating: They are not allowed in my apartment.

I am eating some soup I made last week, it has chicken, kale, butternut squash and white beans in it. Yummy!

Hey AHK ... I saw something on Facebook about making roses out of bacon... Might be good for Valentines Day! :cheesy:

Smiling 02-13-2014 11:02 AM

Not entirely sure, but it's definitely going to involve some of this freshly-baked bread....

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ac7f744.jpg

I'm sure it doesn't look like all that to some of the culinary wizards that frequent this thread, lol, but to me it is a huge success! I didn't use a bread machine or even an electric mixer; and I didn't burn the place down in the process!

I was looking for an alternative to store-bought bread not only for savings, but also to cut out additives and preservatives. (I know the flour isn't really healthy, but it's a start).

My first ever attempt at baking bread from scratch and it tastes sooo good!

So proud of myself this morning! :cheesy:

I saw the photo and instantly started craving homemade bread and butter. And the only thing I have here that even comes close is English muffins. And they are just not the same!

If you were closer, I would bring you some fresh outta the oven. lol, I'm always trying to pawn off my cooking to no avail and I've finally got a taker and she's 50 thousand miles away, for crying out loud!

Ooh, English muffins are good, too, though. The nooks, the crannies, the butter! Yum!

stargazingboi 02-13-2014 01:54 PM

going to keep keeping it simple with pasta and sauce for tonight..garlic bread and maybe a salad.

ahk 02-13-2014 06:13 PM

So possibly breakfast for dinner-- scrambled eggs, a slice of orange cranberry loaf, and sausage.
