I really wasn't sure until I started pulling ingredients out of the cabinet.

I had thawed hamburger yesterday and used some to make a couple patties, so I had to figure the meal out for tonight as I went along. I broke up the hamburger and fried it in a pan, I then added cumin, chili powder, garlic powder and onions. Next came the cabinet items, I dumped a can of Rotel with habaneros, a can of black beans and a can of tomato sauce. Stirred it all up and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Put some in a bowl and sprinkled a shredded 4 cheese blend and ate it with crunchy tortilla chips. Talk about not knowing what's on the menu until the last possible minute.

Cheated tonight and did carbs: I cooked pancakes with pecans and shredded coconut! Party on a plate! :)

Corkey 10-28-2010 10:12 PM

salad and some poppers, weird sort of night

oblivia 10-28-2010 10:30 PM

I had....

rice noodles...
with thai peanut sauce...
and a whack of veggies all from the garden:
Roasted purple carrots and parsnips
zuchinni
green onion
cilantro
rainbow swiss chard

ALL the veggies came from the garden. My Daddy knows how to grow good food! And we picked that just today... it's almost WINTER. Wheee!

femmennoir 10-31-2010 05:28 AM

I had a "carbonnade" simmering all day (a beef stew, from the North of France, started with caramelized onions, leeks, carrots and celery, then quickly browned beef, two bottles of Sierra Nevada Heifeweizen, bay leaves, fresh lemon thyme sprigs, orange peel, sea salt and fresh ground pepper). The aroma wafted through the house, it was lovely! Served with tiny steamed fingerling potatoes from the farmer's market, a green salad, and pear tart for dessert. Glass of Alsace Riesling.
Enough left for two more meals!

I hear the pecking order is vicious....:|

I wound up working out late at the gym today and left around 5pm. As I opened the door to leave, the guy from Domino's had a dolly full of bags of pizza.

:| flippin' UNFAIR face (wrong thread, but it's appropriate)

I had Organic throw some chicken breasts into the oven ahead of time and when I got home, they were juuuuuust about done. I pulled them (as in, with a fork and knife, not as in from the oven) and added them to Garden Delights veggie pasta (pasta is made from veggies and really cool colors but it tastes great), steamed broccoli, and the light alfredo sauce I heated up.

Tasty AND nutritious! It's a WIN for Team Gem-ganic!
