Rep Power: 21474854 | Acupuncture Anyone?

Hi Folks, Wondering if anyone has had acupuncture: Do you like it? Don't like it? Never had it? Or just plain old feel like Hell no, I'm not a human voodoo doll! I've been debating having it done for quite some time and finally made the decision to give it a shot. I personally don't like needles, but sucked it up and tried it out, using it as my last resort for some health issues. Needless to say, I LOVE it and have been going for about a month now. It's incredible and talk about feeling rejuvenated! I feel good all over and it's been helping me incredibly. I have more energy and it amazes me how good I feel. And mostly, I feel like my old self again. It can be a bit pricey, but well worth it, mentally, physically, plus it calms the savage beast in me. Believe me, my other half appreciates that too. |

I just had my first experience with both acupuncture and chiropractic medicine almost two weeks ago. Acupuncture didn't really seem to do anything for me, nor did it freak me out or bother me. I did fall asleep though, so I guess it relaxed the hell out of me. The chiro helped considerably. As soon as I get back home I'm calling the chiropractor again for a follow up.

I am a huge fan of acupuncture. Used to get it regularly. Helped my back and stress levels immensely! Highly recommend it. The needles are really thin and very flexible. You barely feel the needle if you do at all. |

*Wavin to Arwen * Yep, you hardly feel the needles. I go for my treatments on the weekend and all I know is after that, I usually come home and take a 2 - 3 hour nap. I haven't napped like that since I was a kid. It's very relaxing and just what my body needs, and since going, I notice a huge change in myself and am more calm, if you can believe it or not (for those of you who know me). I love the sandalwood incense my acupuncturist uses. I liked it so much, she gave me a box to take home. I can't wait to burn it. I have a water fountain in my office that plays different soothing music with cool lighting. I'm all about the zen now...Heh |

Rep Power: 0 | My sister had her dog treated with acupuncture for his arth. For him, it worked wonders. Now her dog was a huge, lab weighing in at 125 pounds, and was all muscle. The reg. medicine route did nothing for him. He would just lay down in the family room and cry. After the treatments, he was running around, and playing with the kids again. It was a huge difference in his quality of life. |

I have been interested in acupuncture for some time, but haven't tried it yet. I'm not great about making doc appointments either...it usually takes something significant to get me out of the "when I get around to it" phase. I'd like to hear more about what reasons people have sought acupuncturists (is that right?) for...if it isn't too personal. I am looking for help with allergies, neck pain, headaches, etc. |

I've used acupuncture for stress relief, pain (specifically back pain), headaches, nausea and more. The basic concept is that we humans are energy-filled beings. Sometimes that energy gets stuck. Then you have areas that have too much energy while others have too little. So the acupuncture (acupressure is the same) manipulates those energy centers. I've had up to 50 needles in me when my acupuncturist was working on my back. And I usually fell asleep before they were all in. LOL A friend's dog got acupuncture with me. We would do Mookie's needles then put her between my legs. Then I would get my needles. Then we both "cooked" for about 20-30. People used to laugh, but when Mookie died, I really missed that little girl going to our appointments.

I had a course of 6 or so acupuncture treatments for severe back ache and it helped tremendously. And no, the needles are nothing like regular needles (more's the pity...oops! ) |

I don't have a problem with needles of any size I think what holds me back is having focus on what I want treatment to "fix." I don't have any severe pain...but lots of little things are off...I have flat feet so my feet/ankles/knees/hips get to suffer I have frequent problems with nausea and don't absorb nutrients well (low iron, low vitamin D, prolly low other stuff) which has become more problematic since having my stomach/intestines rearranged. I 'spose I should surf the web a bit

Hi Blistex, You should really consider it. It would help with many of your issues you list. You should do a web search for someone in your area and see all their credentials. If you find someone that looks promising, the first thing they do is an evaluation and go over your medical history, etc. and discuss what the procedure consists of. You'll never know until you try, so it's worth a shot. This week will be 5 weeks I've been going and I feel beyond great and never thought I'd feel like my old self again. I used this as the last resort to help with some health issues. I wish I had done this sooner, but as they say, better late than never. Best to you, -Scorp- Quote:

I've gotten it a few times. It's great. I wish I could afford to go regularly. Especially now, because I really feel my chi is waaaayyyyy out of whack. And Mel, I have found that accupuncture, certainly can treat the "big" problems. But often what you describe, a combination of lots of minor, unrelated issues, is really well served by accupuncture. Again, in my humble opinion, it sounds like a chi/energy flow issue. A |
