 After more than a year of a self-imposed hiatus with wardrobe expansion, coupled with the bequeathing of many (many) more garments to the Loaves and Fishes crowd, I finally succumbed to an “overstock” sale on a favorite website. It was a fashion coup. A good time was had by all.

 I’ve been labeled “too sensitive” since I was little; however, after decades of dealing with others without empathy, compassion, or depth, I feel lucky to be “too sensitive”. (Despite that, if you call me names, I’ll probably cry.)

 The best nights are when I can set the table, open the wine, prepare salads and chill them all before she comes home. Dinner together is the highlight of my day, though not merely because of her culinary talents – which, like all of her gifts, are significant. (Just another hour to go.)

 Absconding with Lulu is worth the potential jail time (if we’re caught), but knowing Cookieface would be forever brokenhearted has kept me on the path of the straight and narrow.
 It seems the universe often conspires on my behalf, and I am grateful. (I’m also grateful for pistachios and a lot of other things as well.)

Lulu time soon (in the next few months hopefully?)! If it will make you feel better you can walk her the entire time you're here. : )

1. i love old people, even (especially?) the crotchety old ones. ez thinks that i should work with seniors in some capacity because i am interested in their stories, and if they're safe (if someone looks ill/disoriented i always find a polite way to just check in with them), their health, advocacy and well-being (as individuals as well as a population).

2. i don't think anne rice can write her way out of a paper bag.

3. on our first date, ez and i ate at a little mexican restaurant and he ordered chile rellenos, a favorite of mine, and i asked to taste--he was generous and a good sharer--that's always a good sign.

4. i doodle, a lot. hearts and stars, e's name and *chester*.

5. showgirls is so awful that i've memorized it: She's no butterfly. Tony, she's all pelvic thrust.

1. I never learned how to hold my pencil/pens correctly. I have pretty handwriting, but I still hold all writing implements in a weird way, with my fingers kind of twisted-like around near the point. I've tried to learn the correct way to no avail.

2. It is a rare day that I can eat or drink anything without spilling something on myself at least once. You'd think that the little mouth holes in the Starbucks cup lids would be spill-proof. Nope, not for me.

3. I love to scare people. Toxic and I often entertain ourselves by seeing who can scare the other person on a grander scale.

4. I often have lots to say, but I'm actually super shy, so I'm quiet in public forums. I would have 3 or 4 times as many posts as I have now if I didn't delete everything before I posted.

5. Mary Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie had me obsessed with blindness as a little kid. My favorite thing to play was "Blind School" and my mother hated that I often pretended to be blind in public, like when we were grocery shopping. I've been blind in my left eye since I as 19. Coincidence or jinx?

When I was a kid, I used to do a lot of things with one hand. My father was missing a hand, and I was always curious about how he managed - so I trained myself to do things with one hand to see what it was like. He always found it amusing, but at the same time, it (and he) taught me to be grateful for things we don't often think about having.

I really can't wait for our veggie garden to start growing. I've developed an obsession with Mare's homemade salsa.

I used to love adding sugar to my coffee (or cereal). I no longer add sugar to anything I eat or drink and find myself actually enjoying the miracle of Equal. (But I haven't given up my Pepsi....yet....)

I have an obsession with lights. I've recently lined the driveway/walkway with solar lawn lights and spotlights, and will soon be working my way into the yard. I love all things solar.

The next door neighbor has the most adorable bulldog. I want to steal him. (But, I won't, for now....)

8. My adopted sister's late toy poodle was named Chester. I called him Chester the Molester. He loved to walk in overly long grass so the tip of his pee pee would be touching the grass. Need I say any more.

1. I want to know if I have a nickname from June and if it's cute and/or has sound effects.

2. My mom hated grocery shopping and I've always loved all kinds of shopping (it's the thrill of the chase/finding the sale I think) and so I would take inventory and make out our grocery lists from a very early age. I'd say we ate pretty good and I got my mom to try Harvard beets because they were pretty and purple and in a resealable (although glass) jar.

3. As hot and delish as butches are, I never really feel completely, totally 'at home' unless I'm around femmes.

4. I once peed in an indoor plant (I TOLD Mom I HAD to go but she didn't believe me).

5. Before I die, I want a rescued pit that is tan and white and I shall call her Fiona, because though she'll have scars on the outside, she'll be beautiful to me.

Bonus: I may or may not buy into that whole Shrek philosophy and may or may not be quite sad that there's only the one movie left in the series.

I think Showgirls is the greatest awful movie in history. I love it for it sheer badness.

1. I have a Saturday evening work dinner routine that I force my two fave coworkers to follow. We go to Firehouse Subs (where all the workers now know us and greet us by name) and then to Starbucks for me to get coffee. It's awesome.
2. I won a balloon-tossing event last October — and have the trophy to show for it. It was cool. We dropped the balloons (representing pumpkins) over the edge of the grandstands at Talladega Superspeedway and let 'em drop a couple hundred feet.
3. Hockey is possibly the most fun sport I've covered in my career. I want season tickets at some point in my life to enjoy it as a fan.
4. I love going barefooted.
5. I <3 garage sales.

1) I love to get high...altitude...

2) a kick step isnt really a kick step, it's more like a "swing your foot from the knee" step.

3) eating solid food at altitude is more difficult for me than the climb.

4) one can expect to burn 10,000 calories a day. Ugh, that means eating more than I care to think about.

5) someone asked if I'd ever seen any weird animals up there (like a Yeti?) Obviously they havent seen me for my 2 am starts for the summit...BOO !

* I am so excited about the upcoming Reunion that I might crap my pants.

1. Red pepper relish is my favorite condiment ever. Salsa is a close second.

2. When former Detroit Tiger baseball broadcaster Ernie Harwell died last week, I wept. He is so ingrained in the culture here...and in my childhood memories. Every summer, you listened to Ernie. No matter how much the Tigers sucked that year. He was the voice of summer here.

3. Five generations of my family have lived in Michigan, since my ancestors came here from Poland and Germany after the Civil War and homesteaded in northern Michigan.

4. I'm not a big fan of citrus, though I love anything lemon-flavored.

5. I love to go blueberry picking.

I prefer pie to cake, especially fruit pies. Juicy ones, like peach and cherry.

I know how to fly in dreams, and if I realize I'm dreaming, I do it deliberately. I haven't done it in a while, though.

A lot of the time, I feel like an "imposter" in my work. After 25 years of experience, I still wonder if I really make a difference.

I used to wear skirts all the time. Since starting my new job, I haven't worn a skirt or dress. Maybe I will, tomorrow.

I once drank green citrus iced tea when my mouth was numb from dental work. It was an amazing experience.

5. I have a box fetish. Little ones, big ones, makeup boxes, gift boxes. The prettier the better. I save them forever and ever (under the guise that I'll use them, but I never want to part with them so they stay in my possession)!
