I've been feeling the urge to read the Lord of the Ring trilogy again, so I obviously had to start with "The Hobbit".

This book was actually a step up from the typical fluff!
It was well written, had very relateable characters (especially if you had a college romance that ended without closure) who were well developed and of a certain age! The story is about two women who are reunited after 30 years, now much more wiser and armed with life's experience! I REALLY enjoyed it ![]() 9 |

re-reading this.. ![]() Elizabeth Morrison has ascended the ranks of her industry and now runs one of the most successful publishing companies in the US. But even after three decades, she has never been able to get past the devastating end of her relationship with the beautiful and brilliant Ruth Abramson. As Elizabeth approaches her 30th college reunion, she must face the woman who long ago acceded to the demands of her father, a famous Russian dissident, and married the young man who'd been chosen for her. It doesn't make it any easier that Ruth, now divorced and living openly as a lesbian, is the class luncheon speaker. As the two women face one another and attempt to reconcile their past, Elizabeth finds she must wrestle with a number of issues she has avoided confronting. And she must carefully decide whether she is more distrustful of Ruth or of herself. Is she headed for another fall with this woman? Or does she want to get close again, so she can be the one to walk away? |

Spring semester has started so at the moment I'm reading the most boring book ever written in the history of the world. It's called:
Practical Strategies for Technical Communication by Mike Markel Thanks, Mark Markel! You must be lots of fun at parties. ![]() From my other classes I have other gems as well, but this book is just 528 pages of wow.

F*ck Feelings: One Shrink's Practical Advice for Managing All Life's Impossible Problems
![]() Excerpt review below: WARNING: Naughty language in this book. Despite the cheerfully bright yellow cover and salaciously curt, morally outskirting title, F*uck FEELINGS is a landmark of psychological help. With tongue-in-(hopefully)-cheek mocking of every Dr. First-name (Phil, Deepak, Oprah) book out there, Dr. Bennett and his comedic daughter seek to dispense actually useful advice with wit and practicality (...). ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆ ☆ I bought this book recently because for me, it's not about feelings or happiness or some part of becoming 'glad', but more about finding a particular element of satisfaction. So far, I like what I've read. I'll probably pass it on to others in my group of reading aficionados because we tend to do that for each other: buy a book, pass it on. Kind of like a fair reading exchange, type of thing. ![]()
