i TOTALLY do this! i also clean the table at the restaurant before the server does.

My dad had it right all these years. I used to think he was bonkers but as I've aged and grown to appreciate my own space, I think he's totally onto something.

He and my stepmom lived in separate homes. Granted, they usually lived next door or around the corner from one another for over 30 years but it was ideal. He came over and helped her with the house and she sent him home with a plate of food. They were able to love one another and then go HOME. It was like they dated for over 3 decades so they kept the spark alive.

It's brilliant when you think about it. Sure, not as cost effective as cohabitating but if you are in a committed, trusting relationship, it's gold. Think of all the fights and disagreements that wouldn't happen because you can say, "I need to go home and think about that' or because their junk is all over THEIR space, not yours.

Me too! Maybe a duplex, but I'd need my own zone that was off limits and she'd have one, too. I'm not a snoopy person, but so many people are--I love my privacy, especially with journals--that's where I write stuff that might offend someone, in or out of context.

I grew up with a mom who was a waitress and not only do I wipe down the table with my napkin, I stack the plates, put all the silverware on the top plate and put the glasses next to them.

I'm a pillow queen, in so many ways .... there's no such thing as too many pillows. I add to my pillow collection as often as I can. And, just like collecting pillows, I collect scarfs. Some I wear (a black silk gold embroidery thread scarf from Japan), or I have lots of big scarfs that are batik, or silk, or cotton silk screened prints that I drape over windows or room furnishings. I also like unusual umbrellas, too. Some I use as decorations, others I use when it rains.

I hate to show my ignorance BUT are pillows mainly just a femme thing? I assume they are mainly for show/decoration/decor cause you all seem to take em off at night I've noticed

I have no idea, really. But I do know that I do love pillows and buy more of them, whenever I can. I recently bought a pillow from an femme artist friend, which was absolutely beautiful. She took a photograph of an huge Emerald butterfly. It's simply gorgeous to have that pillow in my pillow collection.

I am a cancer and have lived near water all my life! And I mean within walking distance of the water!

Lake Superior in my hometown, Lake Michigan in Wisconsin, Alki Beach in Seattle, and now Puget Sound/ Discovery Bay here!

But I can prolly count the time I have actually walked down and sat and enjoyed it on one hand and have fingers left over!

Hm. I have six pillows on the bed. 4 are in active use and two are, well, the cats would say they are in active use for them. Two go under my head. One small one for snuggling. Then I have that "husband" prop up pillow which is for reading and such in bed and then gets tossed on the floor.

I have four pillows two for me and two for a guest. No decorative pillows in my bed. Haha!

I have to side step my advocacy for the living apart thing to remember that I did have a really good living together relationship for one long chunk of time. We were together 10 years and lived together, really well, for 9 1/2 years. Even when we were separating we did better than most as far as stopping living together went.

Now I think I've gotten just too set in my ways- but I suppose I should keep in mind that I've seen and experienced it working with the right person. Plus we had a pretty big house to spread out in.
