Books and friends should be few but good...

You do not need to have too many friends or read too many books in order to live a balanced, fulfilled and complete life as long as the friends and books you do have are full of substance

I have always thought that if buttered bread fell to the floor, buttered side down, then it's because the weight of the butter supercedes the weight of the bread.....therefore it's only natural that gravity should cause the buttered side to hit the floor first.

On the bright side, I like the Ten Second rule.
