Unhappy Democracy Now with Amy Goodman

LINK: https://www.democracynow.org/

———————————————.

Today I was browsing news coverage over on Democracy Now and feel that their news coverage is better than most news outlets, with the exception of MSNBC as I feel this news channel covers topics of interest the same way. Honest and forthright and compelling.

I feel like our country is on the verge of making a massive mistake in not challenging and holding elected officials accountable for their roles in January 6th and worse, letting the Supreme Court upend years long battles to secure human rights for women, children, immigrants and those of us in the LGBTQ community.

People come yo America to live in safety from dictators world wide. I can hardly believe that the Asian Catholic community supports Trump (it’s true, I work among these types of people in our very red county). If their wishes come true, their “lord and savior” will be using our military to round them up and hold them in concentration camps for “deportation.” They absolutely do not realize the mistake in judgement will cost them their lives and perceived freedom. My heart hurts because of their willful obedient to a human monster.

I’m 65, going on 66 next spring, and never in my entire life did I think that “Christian church goers” would ever bow down to this human monster and his supporters. The massive indifference (credit to Ellie Wiesel) Americans afford to this life altering challenge is hard to mistake. Why or why do people believe the cruelty and meanness of Trump over the safety and democracy that comes with electing Kamala Harris?

It’s scary, the attitude of indifference that permeates our country.

Four days until a litany of evil is committed by Trump and his sickening sycophants (Mike Johnson, et al).

Be careful what you wish for.

I am so grateful that they’re only only two more days until Election Day! I am literally getting an ulcer. I can’t watch him talk without feeling my blood boil. I’m not just over him but over half the nation that is supporting him! I have forgotten that there was this undercurrent of ugliness in our culture yet. I was in denial! And now I’m seeing documented proof of the hatred half of our population has for our other half.
I swear to God somewhere Stephen King is writing this novel…

I'm here for it... all for it. A ton of money is coming into my state. The politicians and their cronies are courting us like a mutha. I usually get one visit per Presidential election, but I've had four "get out the vote" teams come to my house in the last month to see if I'm voting. I usually offer them bottles of water or protein drinks.

President Clinton was blocks away from me stumpin' for Harris/Walz a week ago, Former First Lady M.O. was less than 100 miles from me doing the same the week before that. VP Harris and Gov Walz seem to be here every other day. And we're making a lot of money from ad dollars. I watch and listen to the ads. Yep, even his.

I know it's crazy and I cuss out the TV, too, but I'm here for the attention my state is getting. Even the bad attention because it energizes us. It puts a spotlight on us, but we can take the heat.

Along with that, Gov Whitmer has been flooding our air waves and it's always good to see and hear her tell us why we need to vote and who we need to vote for.

I also love that VP Harris is talking to anyone and everyone who will chat with her. From Steve Harvey to Charlamagne tha God to Shay Shay. (One of my few problems with Pres. Obama was that he wouldn't talk to some people when he was running. He fell out with Tavis Smaley and Cornel West because he wouldn't "go on the record" and speak with them. He's still paying for that. I don't hold it against him, but I'm glad VP Harris isn't making the same error.)

I'm usually the first to moan and groan about this madness, but remarkably, I'm here for this.

That is amazing Orema, thank you for sharing about voting in your home state. I’m glad your state is headed up by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. She is definitely amazing!!

———————————————.

I’m leaving a link to an article on post-election vote counting, from MSNBC:

https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-...024-rcna178400

It takes a few weeks to get everybody’s votes counted. I read where Mark Kelley commented on MSNBC that Arizona is deploying sharp shooters and drones to combat extremism that might happen down in AZ.

I also read, somewhere this morning, that a Bloomberg reporter thought Trumps headstone in the graveyard will say “I won.”

Lol, ummmm, nope.

I personally think his headstone might say something like this:

“I lied a bazzillion times, stole money from decent American’s (for years annd years annd years), and still I tricked Melania into staying with me when she knew I was a rat…”.

Or, something like that, I suppose.

Here is to everyone who supports democracy and voted for Kamala!

Cheers

Now that I've voted, I feel like I don't have to pay attention to this crap any more. I get the news headlines, but I mute the commercials. I've done my duty and now all I have to do is pray, and wake up Wednesday morning to find out the results. Then settle in and stay comfortable, or run away to Canada. (just kidding . . . probably.) My state is getting lots of attention and advertising dollars too, and I'm grateful for that, but I don't have to watch it.

OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH . . . now the pundits are saying we might not have a definitive answer for weeks, or more realistically until Saturday or Sunday, due to different rules about counting votes in different states, and counting the overseas and military votes . . . I can't go through this back and forth and back and forth for a week. But how am I going to avoid the news for a week? How am I going to avoid people for a week? This roiling sea of Democrats vs. Republicans is going to affect nearly everyone for a week, not to mention the fallout from whichever side wins. I should have planned to go to the beach this week, not two weeks ago. I wish I could run away for awhile - but that wouldn't do any good, the whole world is watching this election.

It's just a matter of time before these damned Trump voters are going to find out that they've been "had", on ohhhh.....so many points. I'm just pointing out one of tRump's stupid campaign "promises" that attracted so many racist, xenophobic voters to his camp.

I'm willing to bet that they've never given the facts in the following video ANY consideration, because by and large, most don't have the mental faculties or intellectual curiosity to research any of these policies, their impact on the economy or simple practicality.

and still, they voted for the orange turd.

I've stopped listening to anything Vonshitzinpants says. He's just stupid.

The really dangerous ones I'm paying attention to are the puppetmasters of the "useful idiot" that is Donald J. Trump. It is THEIR agenda that we need to fear.

Of interest is his "cabinet picks"......one being Matt Gaetz, whom upon being asked, resigned his seat, effective immediately, that has "ended all investigations & charges of his court cases here in Fla. and therefore he, too, is getting off scot free.

Now that repugnicans will have majority control, will make it much harder for the opposition to not push his picks through.
