I received my new birth certificate yesterday. Next on my list is my social security card. Does anyone have advice about the social security card? I called the social security office today and they told me I need to bring my birth certificate and passport for identification. Sounded simple, but simple sometimes scares me.

I had an ordeal at the social security office. Yesterday I went with my birth certificate and picture ID. I had called the SS office the day before to see what I needed to bring.

First the SS agent told me it would be two months before I could get it changed because they had to verify my birth certificate was authentic even though it says it is an original along with the state seal. I inform him this is fine I will wait the two months if I need to.

He then says excuse me and leaves the room. He then comes back and hands me a piece of paper that says: We cannot issue you a Social Security card at this time because: Sex-Change Operation: Applicant must submit a letter from his or her surgeon or the attending physician verifying the the sex change surgery was completed. Please contact us when: You can give us the document we need.

I informed him they did not tell me I needed this over the phone. I told him fine I have a letter and I will be back tomorrow.

The letter I have states I had top surgery only (this is the letter Kentucky needed for my birth certificate) it does not state the sex change surgery is complete. I decide to call the Social Security office in Washington and read them the letter. The person there stated the letter was fine with him, but it was up to the individual office if they would accept it or not.

I call the Social Security agent here in Texas and read him my letter. He states to fax it to him and he would run it by his supervisor in the morning and would call me if they accept it or not.

I was worried.

This morning I received a call from the Texas office and they said the letter was fine and they would change my gender marker today, but it would not go into effect until tomorrow.

My Social Security information has been changed. Next is my passport.

Whew, what an ordeal.

Linus- yes, it was gender only. I didn't do a name change. I don't have a feminine first or middle name (my mother named me after two old boyfriends - so its made things easier for me )

Just remember, it's all them lil hairs trying to push to the surface.. Tis a good thing! As long as you want a back pelt.. (I have a good friend that is like a bear, dude.. for reals.. lmao)

Its still more than a month away, and its already been the longest week since I made the appointment so I got abit of a ways to go but I'll be patient

I really hope that I am not a bear, I don't want all that hair (abit is enough!). I have not yet begun T, but I already have hair on My face (especially under My chin and on My upper lip) as well as abit on My legs and lower stomach. I don't know if maybe I have a high level of testosterone in My body already or what it is, but when I looked in the mirror the other day and studied the dark hairs on My upper lip I then realized that I will probably have more hair than I really want

None of the men in my family, on either side, have back hair. It's the danish/norwegian un-hairy-ness. I would not be happy if I got it. Yuck.

Just dropping in to say hey. Continuing with injections; the only thing I've experienced is skin chapping.

People tell me my voice is about as low as William Warfield. Actually, they just catch me just when I'm getting out of bed.

consulting with a top surgeon aug. 9th, hopefully will know when by then.

otherwise work is killing me, had a great week wit my lady visiting this past week.
