If it's long, male or female, then I can understand charging more - but not because of mere gender.
When I lived in New York (not the city, but in Westchester) my hair dresser BARELY trimmed my bangs (only because she didn't do it right the first time). She tried to charge me $35. WTF?

Found new barber now pay $10 flat fee.
