He is doing so much better, he is still not awake but he is slowly getting there.
His creatinine is down to 1.7 almost in normal range.
He is taking breaths on his own with the help of the vent and at times fighting the vent!
They had to strap down his left arm because he keeps trying to disconnect the trach. He is getting really agitated with the vent and this is damn good sign!!!

I have a friend of 30+ years that just lost her grown daughter yesterday to a brain tumor(s), She was in a nursing home being cared for because the tumor(s) kept coming back after surgeries. She leaves behind a little girl that my friend will raise. Today I say a prayer and will think about the woman I remember as a child herself. How full of life she was and the woman she grew into. There are no words that can take away my friends pain, so I'll leave a candle burning in her memory.

He is awake!!!
He has taken a huge turn for the better and he has been moved him from ICU to the Rehab floor!
He still have the vent which they believe will be out by Wednesday.
They have him sitting up with his legs off the the side of the bed.
They are having to hold him up - but he is trying.
Speech therapy will start as soon as the trach come out!

Last night one of my first kids I took care of when I started at the hospital died suddenly. He was such a sweet, beautiful, boy.
Today I light a candle for his parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family who are grieving such a loss.

"May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ." Philipians 4:7

Today I need to leave a candle and a prayer for R
Whatever she's been battling for over a year is getting worse
Dec 7th she's scheduled for a biopsy in the mediastinum because of an enlarged lymph node
Last Monday she had an ultrasound and nodules were found on her thyroid
Most days she can't even hold food in her long enough for it to digest, but she tries when she can
She's been living on Ensure for the last few months
I'd take her pain in a heartbeat if it was possible
Even though we're no longer a couple, she's my best friend and always has been

So, I leave this candle for R with faith, love, hope and a prayer
