I will always, teach my first aid classes to not put ice on a burn. The two extremes can cause more tissue damage than just the burn will. And NO butter or anything else petroleum based. Those trap heat in the burn. Cool water, cool water, cool water. If it's an open burn, no water, go to the hospital.
