![]() A song familiar to most people. Mel Torme (also known as "The Velvet Fog") wrote this with Bob Wells in 1944, Mel was 19 years old and wrote all of the music and some of the lyrics. Bob started writing it not as a Christmas song, but something he wrote to try to keep cool during a sweltering hot day. This version has slightly different lyrics than what we typically hear at the end. I'm not typically down with religious messages or inflicting them on others. This song is intended to be shared by me with goodwill and cheer. With that, I'm out until after Christmas on some "secret missions" (as my parents used to call them, conferring with "Santa" to make sure he can fit his sack down the chimney) so I wish everyone a happy holiday, may your days be merry and bright! Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, And folks dressed up like Eskimos. Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe, Help to make the season bright, Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow, Will find it hard to sleep tonight. They know that Santa's on his way He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh, And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly. And so I'm offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although it's been said Many times, Many ways Merry Christmas to you. And so I'm offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although it's been said Many times, Many ways Merry Christmas to you. Love and joy come to you and to you your Christmas too and god bless you and send you a happy new year and god send you a happy new year |

Tonight, in descending alphabetical order, all from the lost 'n found:
Someone told me It's all happening at the zoo. I do believe it, I do believe it's true. Mmmmm. Mmmmm. Whoooa. Mmmmm. It's a light and tumble journey From the East Side to the park; Just a fine and fancy ramble To the zoo But you can take the crosstown bus If it's raining or it's cold, And the animals will love it If you do If you do Something tells me It's all happening at the zoo I do believe it, I do believe it's true Mmmmm Mmmmm Whoooa Mmmmm The monkeys stand for honesty, Giraffes are insincere, And the elephants are kindly but They're dumb. Orangutans are skeptical Of changes in their cages, And the zookeeper is very fond of rum Zebras are reactionaries, Antelopes are missionaries, Pigeons plot in secrecy, And hamsters turn on frequently What a gas! You gotta come and see At the zoo At the zoo At the zoo At the zoo At the zoo At the zoo At the zoo At the zoo Last edited by I'mOneToo; 12-30-2010 at 01:38 AM. ![]() If you like tuba solos (who could NOT love a tuba solo???) this one delivers at 3:00, goes on for a little over two minutes. This version on youtube is awesome. I'm not scared of dying, And I don't really care. If it's peace you find in dying, Well then let the time be near. If it's peace you find in dying, And if dying time is here, Just bundle up my coffin 'Cause it's cold way down there. I hear that its cold way down there Yeah, crazy cold way down there And when I die, and when I'm gone, There'll be one child born In this world to carry on, to carry on. Now troubles are many, they're as deep as a well. I can swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell. Swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell, But I'll never know by living, only my dying will tell. Yes only my dying will tell. Yeah, only my dying will tell. And when I die, and when I'm gone, There'll be one child born In this world to carry on, to carry on. Give me my freedom for as long as I be. All I ask of living is to have no chains on me. All I ask of living is to have no chains on me, And all I ask of dying is to go naturally. Oh I want to go naturally. Here I go, Hey Hey! Here comes the devil, Right Behind. Look out children, Here he comes! Here he comes! Hey... Don't want to go by the devil. Don't want to go by demon. Don't want to go by Satan, Don't want to die uneasy. Just let me go naturally. and when I die, When I'm dead, dead and gone, There'll be one child born in our world to carry on, To carry on. |

![]() Let us be lovers, We'll marry our fortunes together. I've got some real estate here in my bag. So we bought a pack of cigarettes, And Mrs. Wagner's pies, And walked off To look for America. "Kathy", I said, As we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh, Michigan seems like a dream to me now. It took me four days To hitch-hike from Saginaw. "I've come to look for America." Laughing on the bus, Playing games with the faces, She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy. I said, "Be careful, His bow tie is really a camera." "Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat." We smoked the last one an hour ago. So I looked at the scenery, She read her magazine; And the moon rose over an open field. "Kathy, I'm lost", I said, Though I know she was sleeping. "I'm empty and aching and I don't know why." Counting the cars On the New Jersey Turnpike The've all come To look for America, All come to look for America, All come to look for America. |
