The kid across the street.
This summer, he had a broken arm. One day, he was sitting on the porch watching his brother and friends run through the sprinkler. He couldn't, couldn't get the cast wet. I walked over and asked if he knew how to play marbles. He didn't but, wanted to learn how. I fronted him 10 marbles to get him started.

Today: he came over to tell me he got some marbles for Christmas, and handed me back 10 marbles. I'm pretty sure they are the same 10 I gave him to start. (because they look to be 30+ yrs old and I know he was keeping them separate)

Me: WOW!, that's cool. Thank you. Where's the rest of my marbles?

Him: gives me a wtf look and says, I won those off you!

Me: chuckling. That you did, lad.

Him: as soon as the snow is gone, I'm gonna win more!
Then he ran off.

The whole thing makes me smile, I smile extra though because, a now 8yr old is so interested in an old game.

Two things made me smile today.

First it is Jan 1st in New England and it is 50 degrees. The car got a bath this mornin and is looking spiffy again.

Second, my neighbors and their incredible hulk toddler will be leaving for a month in the islands shortly. This means no thumping, no crying, no screaming, no toys all over the lawn.

Life is good.

Having a smooth flight (no delays!), w/free Wifi, moving myself to the exit row where I could have more leg room! (I'm tall!), no waiting for a shuttle and no hassle at Customs.

The following conversation that I just had with my 12 yr old little brother:

Brother: *thoughtful* Lynn....Whats a Queef????

ME: *trying to keep a straight face* Its....well...Ummmm...Its when a girl farts through her vagina (I know...I just didnt have the words)

Brother: Thats what I heard. I think a girl did that on the bus last week. It smelled like Peanut Butter. Do they usually smell like Peanut Butter?

Me: I have never been up, close, and personal with a Queef before. I wouldn't know.

Brother: Ok...

Later on Brother is washing dishes with his headphones on listening to music singing his own version of the Rhianna song "Whats My Name?" Which sounded like: "Oh NA NA...Whats my QUEEF? Oh NA NA...Whats my QUEEF?

I just woke up from the most amazing dream... It left a smile in my heart and on my lips...

I was feeding my son and all his friends.. They had taken over my house, (as they generally do) and there was chaos all around... Lovely..

Then his sister was there and I was giving her all sorts of things that she had expressed an intrest in... An old costume, some art work, and something that her older brother would love... Then I had to leave for work, but left her collecting plants for her to take to her mothers house.. They were going to plant them up her mothers driveway.. It was a project for the two of them, and I was providing part of it...

Lovely...

It made me smile and happy because in my family that is what you do for your children... You feed the hell out of them when they come for a visit... You clean out your house to furnish their first appts and you pass on plants...

The entire thing left a bitter sweet ach for the kids, but at the same time made me so happy to have them there..

My dad called a few hours ago to tell me that he was able to obtain the poster from Radio Shack.

It is a Livestrong/Team RadioShack poster (I cannot remember exactly what it looks like since I have not seen it since first part of November). I have been waiting for Radio Shack to take said poster down!
