Well that makes four of us! I saw it this morning and wondered what is so fun about creating a fire. Then just now curiosity got the best of me....LOL

I am thinking of buying one. Books that I love tend to be heavy and with a herniated disc in my neck the Kindle would be the way to go....

They're there until you decide you don't want them to be there anymore. But they hold an INSANE number of books...3,000 or something like that.

The books download directly to your kindle. It takes about 10 secs. Many books are free based on length of copyright. It holds a bazillion books. Exactly.

The 'green" aspect of the kindle also appealed to me. I loved the idea that you could get books and NOT have to cut down trees.

It also saves on space, as Sam seems to have found out.

I've had my Kindle for almost a year now. I have really, really enjoyed it and it's gotten me back to one of my very first loves.....reading!!

I initially started to consider a Kindle when my eyes started getting so bad, I could hardly see anything up close, and I'm nearsighted!! I bought reading glasses....a whole bunch of them, at Costco, and I couldn't even keep track of those!! So, when I first heard about the Kindle, I found out that you could enlarge the text as much as you wanted and that clinched the deal for me!!!

My Kindle has 3G Wireless and I'm happy with it. I think it's the 2nd Generation one, but I'm seriously happy with it. I ended up buying my best friend, Irene, the latest generation Kindle for her birthday, this past October and she tells me that she can't put it down!!!

I've always wanted to read more of the "classics" and this is another reason I love my Kindle. I can download those for free!!!

Not at all. And honestly, that surprised me. I thought I would. The new kindle's font replicates book font very closely, but my eyes don't get as tired. There's also a lot less glare on the new kindle's screen.

There is a sharing program available now!

I got my brother-in-law a cover for his without the light. I did a bit of research on the covers and found that most that got one with a light in it said it really wasn't worth the money because it created a glare more than anything on the screen and drained the battery life way fast.

Now there was a website that I ran across that had 1,000's of Kindle books on it where you could download it for free. Hmm, I should go searching my bookmarks to see if I can find it again.

So I guess I'm "old school" about this....I love the feel of a book in my hands....with that in mind, I have not entertained the idea of a Kindle....

Tell me why I should get one, please......

i will say this, only cause you know "us" haha

kelle is like you. old school, hard/soft covers.

when Avery couldnt fit in his car seat after yard saling last october, i ordered her the Kindle.

the books were read and they are now gone.

there are tons of free sites that you can load books from, but opening my email today i see shes ordering books for plastic surgery since of course Avery will be having revisions in the next couple years.

So yeah, its time to break down. the black is supposed to be easier on the eyes, got her a cover for xmas too.

i'm glad after 6 years i did SOMETHING right

Now if i can master my IPad, all things would be great

i know this is not the right thread, but i did alot of research before i purchased the kindle. i liked it cause it comes from amazon.

the Ipad has so much more to it. i use it for internet, games. while i travel. i know theres so much more i can do, i just lack the patience

Got my Kindle for Christmas and have been enraptured ever since in a serious, SERIOUS way.

I have been hemming and hawing for a year now about the Kindle, trying to decide if I would actually use it and if the cost of it was justified. I tend to get most of my books at yard sales, library sales, and thrift stores because Im a cheapass and hate to spend anything over $2 - $3 for a book.

Needless to say, when I opened the package on Christmas eve it was like the heavens had opened up and showered me with "Hallelujahs"!

I LOVE my Kindle (Booja) for several reasons:
* It's lightweight and not nearly as awkward to hold in bed as a huge book.
* It has helped me rediscover my love of good fiction.
* It's a GREEN product - Saves lots of paper and printing energy!
* It helps me better maintain a clutter-free atmosphere in my home.
* It has a super-friendly user interface and easy access to lists on Amazon and has gotten me excited about reading again.
* It's sexy - It really is!
* Something about it feels decadent, I think it's the easy-click page turn for me!

The first book I read on it was "Exquisite Corpse" by Poppy Z Brite. It was touted as a really disgusting and gross book by a lot of folks on the Kindle forums, so I of COURSE had to read it. It was about 2 Gay cannibalistic necrophiliacs. Parts of it were, indeed, disgusting but overall it was a good read. The only caveat is that that particular book was in DIRE need of a proofreader. It had a bunch of pretty distracting misspellings or grammatical errors that appeared to be a result of the transfer process that Amazon uses.
I did find out that if you complain to them about it that they will refund the price of the book to you

Anyone checked out the sharing program yet? I want to SHARE some books!
