Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two."

Love is... Sometimes wanting what is best for yourself. Even it that means saying goodbye and walking away while your still in love with someone.

Love is making her sandwich the way she likes it because that's the way she likes it even though I don't like it that way.

Love is waking up with the alarm you forgot you set to dragon breath, hair stretched in weird spikes to maximum capacity, half a pound of crusties in your bleary eyes, leftover make up you were too tired to remove earlier smeared around your now raccoon-looking eyes, a sore throat from hacking and snoring all night long, the faint stench of acrid smoke in the clothes you were also too tired to remove earlier combining with someone's nighttime farts and assaulting your delicate senses aned hearing the following in a groaning, groggy voice:

You're beautiful.
