Good morning Florida Folks! Happy Monday! Just thought I'd drop in and say "Hi" We are hard folks to gather together, so I thought I'd just tell you a little about myself, and maybe we can just do the "getting to know each other better" here at the planet.

The center of the state is my home, (83 miles each way to an ocean beach) about 30 miles south of Orlando. I have four grown kids and one grandchild. Two of the kids still live at home. My youngest son has taken his time, one might say, getting through High School, but is finally on track to graduate this year.

My grandson lives right next door so I pretty much get to see him every day. He is so adorable. He is 15 months old. He has the greatest personality, and he just goes nuts when Granny comes over (how can you not love that?)

I love politics, real estate, traveling, and hanging out with friends. I am not a "church" person at all, but just recently started attending a "open and affirming" UCC Church in Lakeland so I could make some new friends. It used to be an MCC church and is pretty much all queerfolk. The people are very friendly and give some great hugs. A group goes out to lunch every Sunday after the service which gives us all achance to talk. This week pretty much everyone went. So far I am really enjoying it.

That's too bad about the smoke fog. It messes with the fresh air that Floridians are used too. Hopefully it clears up soon. As far as Miami , Lauderdale and Boca Raton I can say that we had some rain and it is HOT and DEWY around our neck of the woods. Anyhow, have a great day and maybe try on some goggles instead of sunglasses until air clears up.

In Jacksonville here too. Lived in Ft. Laudy for a bit and in Ft Myers too. LOVE SOUTH FL!! I use to think I would head back to CA in the years to come, but I am leaning more and more towards Miami.

Good Morning fellow floridians. We finally got some rain yesterday,but it only served to make things hotter. I think its the first time we had rain in weeks. We are still under severe drought regulations.

Hiya FLF...welcome to BFP. I too reside in south florida--though near the top of the south..

We are heading to the Bahamas next week(mostly on my companys dime) but i know Jo and I both are up for a meeting at some point in time. I think in August we will be heading to Jax for a family reunion so if not before then perhaps we could meet a few on that trip. i think jax is about 3 hrs or so from us so no big deal!

Well im off to get ready to go see the back dr..hope everyone has a great day and stays cool

Hi Scoote: Have fun in Bahamas...and hopefully we can all meet up for some lunch sometime around Jax. The smoke here today is so horrible. The light shower yesterday evening helped dissipate it some. But today is really thicker, and is very dense outdorrs...plus hard to breathe outdoors. The whole state is declared a state of emergency. I heard there are more fires breaking out. Rain chance is 30 to 40% all week.... visibilty at airport is one mile!!!! That is scary!!! We are right below their flight path! And NAS Jax also!!! Have good day Scoote! Clay

Hopefully, South Florida will one day have its own B-f meetup because Tampa and JAX is just too far. Anyways, Bahamas sounds like alot of fun. I hope you both have great trip.

Hey Clay,

I have been busy as hell installing new hardwood floors and building a window bench and new kitchen table for mom. Not to mention lots of papers due in this class.... I am beat!!!

The first show is ST Pete Pride the 25th of June, after that I think Orlando, then maybe Lake city and Jax. Waiting to hear back to be sure I have spots on all of them.

Btw, I have also been to JAX and Ft. Myers. However, Calli takes the cake because it is such a beautiful looking place , but for now South Florida is my home.

Yeah, indeed loved it down there. I really do not like Jax much, but I have a house here and other responsibilities, so home is here for now.

I have been trying to get down to the Everglades for about a year now, but just havent gotten the chance. I enjoyed going there back when I lived down there and when I was a kid.

Hope you are also having a great day as JAX is a quiet town. I understand that you have other important matters to handle back home. anyhow I hope you are also staying cool too because it is hot. I went to the Everglades a few times it was ok , but a little danger because of the wildlife there.
