I did this yesterday but just now seeing the thread.
I got rid of three shirts that no longer fit. I gave away 50 more books. FIFTY! I feel faint. I will be boxing up some more tonight. The list will grow as I continue the move process. Oh joy unbounded!

Got rid of more stuff out of the shed. My dad had an old wheelchair that no one I knew wanted, so I posted in on free/craigslist, along with several large old tarps that were really in my way. The response for the wheelchair was immediate, and the lady who came to get it really needed it. The same people took the tarps, so I got a two-fer.
Watched Oprah's show about hoarding. Hoarding, thank god, is not a problem I have, but still it made me want to go home and get rid of everything. I have claustrophobia and could barely stand to watch that clutter on TV. I would not be able to live in it. Anyway, I still want to give/sell lots more stuff. I have a bunch of stuff put together out in the garage for a sale I hope to have next Thursday |

I gave LOTS of money away today.
 *sigh* No wonder I don't hardly ever go to the doctor or dentist.  On a slightly brighter note, I've been working the rest of the day (that wasn't devoted to one doc or another) on getting things ready for my last yard sale here on Sunday. It's not gone yet, but it WILL be shortly and I already made a sale!

When I was going through a lot of clothes, I would box them up by size and put a one year expiry date on them. If untouched for one year, they go.
Today 5 boxes 'expired' so off to donation they go. By happy coincidence this might work out for others for the holidays, (wish I had actually planned that). I intentionally did not open them, but I know there's good stuff in there.   The car isn't full, I think I'll look around for what else could be better used by others... |

I have found my lost tribe!!! I love to cull, purge, re-prioritize, reorganize, and lighten the depth of the footprint I make on earth, lighten myself, make myself feel freer, more flexible, more able to embrace change when it hits, because my shell is easy to drag. For as long as I can remember, I've had a personal rule: If I buy something, I have to get rid of something. This stops me from making impulse purchases that cause gratuitous repetitions in my household. Another thing I do is, every three months or so I go through every drawer and closet in my apartment, and start a pile of things I don't wear, didn't like in the first place, just don't want anymore, no matter how "nice" they are. Then I fold the stuff into a shopping bag and give the best pieces away to someone who needs them (like the lady who cleans our office, who I've known for about ten years). When I'm carrying the bag, I'm very conscious of its weight. That's the weight I'm shedding, in some psychic way. It feels good. You know how many mugs I have? I have three mugs. I actually want a couple more, but I'll stop at that. I really fight the urge to accrue, and it's easy to internalize that urge, in this culture, where we're bombarded by messages to consume. Ironically, though, when I live with someone, I am happy to help them organize, get rid of stuff, but I also have no problem tolerating their stuff, as long as it doesn't dominate shared space. |

I cleaned out my change purse doohickey this morning at o'dark thirty and found numerous receipts that could be thrown away and/or shredded. I have done both.

Today, I cleaned out 3 of my back packs;
Sooo there are my pens I have been looking for about 7 months now, I went out and bought more  I cleaned out my closet; Who would have known that I had 2 sets of the same snickers because I didn't know I bought the ones earlier  I found a bunch of scrub hats that I couldn't find for Christmas that I wanted to wear  <~ and a cowboy hat lol.I have 2 bags of clothes that no longer fit me cause I lost weight because of the pesky crohn's/celiac that cut my diet in half. I guess that's a plus for me, still not sure. And I am donating all the umbrella's I knew I just had to have incase it friggin rained  to which I think I never used one of them cause I forgot them at home! SO I know that Salvation Army will thank me, as someone else will be able to use these true treasures I once (thought) I needed |

Its been office purging the last week or so...
Today, I watched as two gaylords of paper went to recycling. These were just out of a file room upstairs in our offices. 27 contractor bags went to trash - nothing in them was worth freecycling, etc. Who the hell still has thermal fax paper?? We did - two cases. Printers that didn't work - no sense in sending those to a thrift shop. I stood in the file room last week, expletives abounding, wondering how in the hell does a business become a hoarder?!?!? Obviously, it was the employees. We have a history of when someone leaves the company, we never clean out the old offices unless the position is being rehired. I also cleaned those out. 2003 files will be destroyed today. YAY. Today I have tasked my DP (that's data processing, you pervs  ) department with finding ways we can become more paper-less through technology. Once we have the tools in place, I may be getting rid of personnel who can't seem to navigate change LOL(joke, people - I love my staff) On the homefront, I will be cleaning out my closet this weekend. With the significant weight loss, I have so many suits and such that no longer fit. I will probably "lot" them and place them on Queerbay with the proceeds being donated to the Reunion Scholarship fund. (Yep, Honey, its in writing. You have proof that I WILL do it this weekend) SOMEONE (who is probably thread stalking me) needs to continue to purge the workshop so that Hys tools can go live in the shop rather than in what is to become my exercise room. |

The only kind of snickers that I know of that you could store in a closet are the candy bar type snickers.
