I was told that if you have an inverter, you can go to WalMart for a small 1 quart slow cooker and the plastic liners.... they have the cookers for approx. $10 and if you use a liner, then a couple of rubber bands and toss it in the cooler/refrig.

Petro has an open salad bar versus pre-made salads? i don't know how well that would work wither since cruel never stops at Petro. Schneider only contracts with certain fuel stops.

Well, we made it back from Maine and all points in between! What a great trip! I noticed a lot of things that I didn't realize before.

Many of the night or wknd support for drivers can be harsh. Seems like they don't really give as quality of service as your regular DBL/dispatcher.

Food choices really can be difficult especially when you are the type of driver that doesn't stop often.

Truck stops can have good food, but expensive. Truck stops can have really bad food, still expensive.

Noticed a lot of guys with regular coolers strapped into their passenger seat. When they need to drain it they just open up the door, slide cooler over a bit, and wah-la. Looked into a few regular size coolers. Most were inexpensive and state keeps things cold between 3-5 days. The one Cruel will try is 48qts and will keep cool for 3 days. Hoping we can at least pack healthy for a couple days and then in meantime if there's something healthy can grab and toss in the cooler.

Anyone get the munchies when driving?

A few other things I noticed - drivers are not given a lot of respect, CB's can come in way handy or ridiculous entertainment, never knew how many parking lots smelled like urine, etc.

Tell me again do you drive a regular van truck(like the size of Schneider)? Wouldn't watermelon be messy? what if you have to shift suddenly. I guess maybe that would depend on where you're driving too.

Great job on better choices in eating.

Default Exercise besides walking?

Does anyone exercise in their truck? Cruel has those rubber band things and can use dumb

Just being the passenger though, I have to say, after an 11 drive day, 14hr work day, you are often time really ready to do nothing. Oh wait, Can't do that though. You need to trip plan, laundry, shower, try and make sure you have some healthier foods on hand, etc.

Arrow Living the Life of a Trucker's Wife

Living the Life of a Trucker's Wife

When you are a trucker's wife
You lead a very different life
From that of other women you know
Your husband comes and then he goes

While some might shake their heads and say
To live like that, no way, no way!
A trucker's wife is one who knows
Living this life is the best way to go

We all get lonely sometimes, no doubt
Sometimes we cry, sometimes we shout
Things do get rough when we're on our own
But all we must do is pick up the phone

Our hubbies are there at the end of the line
Telling us things will be just fine
So we calm down and say "okay"
What did it matter anyway?

Sometimes we're sad to see them leave
A sigh of sadness we do heave
But then there's times when we have a smile
Peace and quiet, if just for awhile

Some of us value the time on our own
We actually enjoy being alone
The house is quiet, the house is tidy
We can spend the day in our jammies or nighty.

No one is here to judge what we do
To our own desires we can be true
Cereals for dinner, sure that's fine
No need for us to have candles and wine

Cleaning the tub, shaving our legs
Surely those things are things that can wait
Hubby is gone and we're making the most
Of living our lives while he drives coast to coast

We cook and clean whenever we please
When you're on your own, life is a breeze
The t.v. is ours to control as we wish
Maybe I'm glad that we got the Dish

A week or two of freedom is fine
Longer than that and we start to whine
Before we know it, he's headed home
Now it is ending, our time alone

But do we mind when it comes to an end?
Not when we get to see our best friend
Our lover, our hero, the light of our life
Will soon be pulling his rig in the drive

We get off the couch and put the bonbons away
Why didn't w e start cleaning yesterday?
Oh well, truly, not to worry
I've learned how to speed clean in quite a hurry

Of both worlds we have the best
We know that we've been truly blessed
It's just another day in the life
Of a woman who's known as a trucker's wife.

Hey thanks everyone for the input. I apologize, I wasn't clear in my original post. I have a regular truck with a cab and bed in the back. So I would be too small to park with the big trucks. But was wondering if the rules are the same if you're a regular car about parking overnight.

Thanks.
