i stopped smoking over ten years ago after having smoked for over twenty something years. i know how freaking hard it is to do. i applaud everyone of you here trying to stop! it's the best thing you'll ever do and you can't even begin to know how good you will feel afterwards. i used the patch and worked that system exactly as directed and i also used a lot of online support groups. [like this!] for me, having somewhere to go to so i could whine, bitch or brag about my quit days, was extremely helpful. oh, and that quit meter was very cool to use. i think this is it: http://www.dedicateddesigns.com/qk/download.htm at first you don't see a lot of change and it's a wee bit discouraging but all of a sudden one day you look at it and you are amazed at how well you're doing and how far you've come and then well, it's too late to turn back

Dear Inc....
because this pertains to the quitting smoking thing and because your my inspiration... i grant you the 15 lbs i have put on now heres the thing 5 lbs has spread itself out in my belly (dammit...I work hard to keep the weight off there ) 5 lbs has gone right to my left and right ass cheeks in which im certain you can use this somewhat better than i.... i am not fond of this weight gain...however the doc promises a ten lbs loss when they take my tonsils.... ps... Oh sweetie, it's better to battle a few pounds than fight for breath. Your ass has grown a bit huh? I could certainly utilize that.............. as target practice ![]() ![]() ![]() Just 5lbs on your belly you reckon. You lucky, lucky girl. Try a 25lb weight gain. I started gaining weight about 6months in and then put on a pound a week for about 6months. I purposely didn't replace food for my cigs though. I'm not sure of the science of it but nicotine speeds up our metabolism a bit I think, which means when we stop ingesting nicotine, even if we don't substitute our oral fix with food, then it's going to be harder to maintain our 'smoking weight'....especially as we get older and possibly succumb to any sort of middle-age weight gain I think weight gain is often an excuse - not a reason - that folks use to start smoking again. I hate being the weight I am now. I've not been 125lbs since I was a chubby teenager who turned to anorexia and bulimia for the next 20yrs to stay thin. However, I refuse to go back to those dark days. I'm on the run down to 50 and if I can't be the skinny chap anymore then I'll live with being bigger but with lungs that might work through my 50s...Lungs come first! Your Doc says you can expect to lose 10lbs after your tonsillectomy...Jeepers you lucky lady. I've had my tonsils out, adenoids and appendix. I wonder what other bits they could cut out to help lose some weight. I wonder if a lobotomy would help!! ![]() Keep on diggin', keep on diggin' ![]() |
