It will be ok! Emily was downgraded to a tropical depression. She lost her fizzle over the Dominican Republic and they are still keeping their eyes on her. I don't want to re-live what happened with Hurricane Charley..That was scary not being able to contact my mom because she had lost her telephone and electricity...

How about some chicken wings for dinner?

... I'm going through withdrawals. The Borders down the street from work closed, taking the cafe with it. Now I eat my lunch in the (dismal) cafeteria at work instead of enjoying sunshine, summer breezes and caffeinated beverages.

Good morning everyone (and welcome sassy)

Here's a "happy Friday" cup for everyone...

We're happy here in Florida today because Emily decided to rain over the Carribean rather than try to blow our houses down....so no picking up and running to Ockechobee until it passes for us this weekend. (Which reminds me...I need to figure out how to install our hurricane shutters).

I'm thrilled that it's Friday...and am going to convince my sweetie that tomorrow is a good Waffle House morning. Ours is in a semi-yicky neighborhood, but I don't think we'll get shot there tapu....hopefully you aren't taking your life in your hands for 24 hour coffee!

Special kitty was up on the fence again this morning...but Scoote found the spot in the netting that she was pushing through and stapled it down tight. Now Gracie is grumping around the pool muttering

We allow our kitties in the fenced backyard, and have done a ridiculous amount of work to try to prevent their escape...including installing netting over bookshelf brackets near the top of the wooden fence. It makes the backyard look a little maximum security, but the kitties can't navigate an upside down 90 degree angle of loose netting, so they are contained. I keep trying to convince them that they have a whole yard to enjoy and should be happy with that (especially since there are cars and alligators and water moccasins and goodness knows what on the other side)....but they are not especially convinced.

One cup of coffee and then I have to run to the pool store and WalMart before I'll be missed at work....ahhhh....the joys of working from home, primarily with folks in another time zone.

Tonight, we are having the following: grilled chicken, with light garlic salt, basil and crushed red pepper; rice with crushed red pepper and basil; green peas with a dash of garlic salt and basil with fresh French rolls from Alexia. Dessert is up to all of us...

Good morning everyone,

Well, the SeaWorld trip is cancelled, and I'm the only one awake...including critters. Evidently it's raining in Orlando and the Prince didn't want to wake up anyway.

So...not sure what the day holds. Had a talk with a friend whose nephew just died in a car accident...then a long much-needed and overdue talk with my best friend (who I miss like crazy).

Coffee's on...

We're going a little fancy because...ugh...it's Monday.

Somehow the weekend just flew by. We did go see Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Saturday night...which I enjoyed. And Scoote and I managed a lunch out yesterday...otherwise, ummmm....I took care of the pool and baked cookies.

Not my most productive weekend ever. *sigh*

I did manage a very long chat with my best friend. I miss our Sunday morning breakfasts....just sitting, eating, talking, drinking cofee, more talking, more coffee, more talking, more coffee

I keep trying to convince her to move down here, but that would involve her leaving her husband, her job, her house....yea, unlikely. They celebrated their 19th anniversary on Saturday so, even when she wants to kill him, I think she's in for the duration.

Back to work for me....hope you all have a great day.

Good morning everyone

Coffee is ready and breakfast is served...

I'm having my first cup of coffee for the day....and savoring it before I race out to mow the front lawn. It's getting long and if I don't do it before Scoote gets back from physical therapy, then she'll do it and hurt herself more. And she calls me stubborn.... (actually we both are!)

My new morning routine....put the coffee on, go outside and play pool boy (check chemicals, adjust levels, brush sides and steps, skim net the top)...then back inside for coffee, check emails and start my work day.

Somehow I need to get my exercise routine in there too....I'm discovering that if I don't do it in the morning then it doesn't get done...

I'm off to mow! Hope you all have a great day!
