I feel like I am stuck, and I'm trying to stay motivated and not go back into old habits but man it's tough. Long hard day dealing with clients with major emotional stuff, I feel drained and all I want to do is eat junk right now. I normally don't take their *stuff* home with me but I had some hard ones today.

I give my clients advice all day long on weight loss and how healthy eating is so important for them especially when in recovery of an illness, and I don't even want to take my own advice. BLAH!

Yesterday was an interesting day.. had some great points, and a not so great point..

- went grocery shopping with a friend of mine, and loaded up on the healthy stuff, but was fun to share my tips with her...and to get home with a lot of things to maintain my healthy journey!

- made plans with another dear friend of mine (we were best friends in elementary school and reunited just recently through facebook) to go for a walk..We went to a lake nearby and walked trails, which was great fun.. lots of laughs & great exercise.. cept a lil excessive, because we got lost in the woods and luckily got out just before dark.. it was a good thing i was with her & not alone or i would have panic'd badly.. It was near freezing, and when we got home , cold had really set in.. we were very lucky, but together we stayed calm and retraced our steps and eventually found our way...

- what would have been an hour walk, turned into a 4 hour walk (16km which is about 10 miles, i believe...) we kept warm by continuously walking.. two gabby girls, thinking they knew where they were going and then standing in the middle of nowhere with no clue where to go.. oy! lol..Next time, we'll walk so far, turn around and go back unless we're absolutely sure of where we are going..

so needless to say, got my exercise in for yesterday!

so i have a question, not sure if any of you can help but thought i would try.. In light of the subject between Rockin and Zimmeh, about loose skin.. i am curious, is it something that can be worked on during weight loss, like specific exercises geared towards toning for instance? or will the hanging skin always be an issue until surgery..

i ask this because of my arms, i do have some flabby there, but i still have a lot of weight to lose, so not sure if i can tone that flab as i go or if i will always be stuck with it...i probably won't know until i lose all the weight i want, but now i'm scared i will have super flabby arms even if i lose more weight, super self conscious about my arms... my rear, my legs, my tummy, i'm losing in all of those places very good, actually.. Especially my tummy, i'm super surprised how much i've lost there, i think i've lost more weight in my tummy than anywhere else, so far.. i do a lot of walking, which is doing well for the butt and legs, of course.. i've noticed big differences with those as well.. my arms however, not so much..

So i know i need to step it up exercisewise.. time to start some weights again, and i may research some exercises to really gear towards losing the weight there too..

Funny i asked that question, now that i reread it, i guess it's not something any of you can answer, and nothing i can know until i actually lose the remaining weight, lol.. Obviously, exercise in the arms will help tone some, guess i'll just have to weight and see..

Think i am just obsessing this a bit right now, when i worry i obsess (not in a healthy way either)... i wish i could just lose it all successfully and be the healthy perfect body i am aiming for, without any flab anywhere.. i really don't want surgery, to be honest... If i could do it naturally in any way, i would much prefer that is all, and just wondering if i should be doing something more, now to help avoid it ...

make sense? makes sense in my head, dangerous place to be sometimes though, LOL!

I don't do all of the grocery shopping thank GOD, but I have a mantra while shopping "If I don't buy it I can't eat it",

My weakness is in the grocery store, I have to avoid the *carb* aisle (and they all have one) and stick to the list, I am so weak!

Default X-posted from FB

I took 3 weeks off from diligent tracking to see how I would do with food and exercise on my own. Conclusion: I do better with diligent tracking!!

I did manage, at some point, to get 2 pounds closer to my first goal weight. However, I started this morning with fresh measurements and weighing; and I see I'm back to where I was before my 3-week "break". No real gains during that period overall, so that's not too bad.

I went ahead and changed my goal weight in the system from 170 to 167. I figure if I'm going to re-start then I might as well shoot for the weight I *really* want. I am 7.6 pounds from my goal.

I had been keeping track of my belly measurement through this whole experience, and that number has remained pretty steady......3.75 inches lost. This morning I added in my chest measurement and will track that as well.

So... *ding* *ding* Round 2!!!

Congratulations Thinker! Round 2 it is!

I honestly think starting a Round 2 or Phase 2 (like Cowboi is doing) is a great idea! To me, it kinda gives me the idea that it's a clean slate. Round 1 is over, time to start fresh & come out swinging!

THANK YOU for reminding us that we need to regroup & set new goals for ourselves!

Default Drum roll please...

As I've said before, part of my changing my eating habits was with the goal of losing weight (which would be nice), but the primary reason was to improve my health.

As a diabetic, I worry about the complications of diabetes....losing my eyesight, my feet, organ failure...all that fun stuff.

Well....after not exactly sure of how many months of my new style of eating, I got lab results at my doctor visit this morning.

My A1c...the critical number for diabetics...is 5.9
This is my best reading ever....as in ever since my diagnosis!
I have been stuck at 6.6, which is safe but not wonderful, for YEARS...and only by virtue of lots of medications.

Also good news....my triglycerides have dropped to 126.
And my HDL (the good cholesterol number) is a whopping 72.....LDL (bad stuff) 115.

My doctor is very pleased...and these new better numbers mean I can go off the Actos I've been on for years (and which the FDA just issued warnings about and pulled) without going onto a new replacement medication. She is willing to slightly increase my metformin dose and leave it at that....no new drug, and I'm off the Actos (which they found increases the risk of bladder cancer).

All of this by eating more veggies, more healthy fats, and fewer carbs....cutting out fast food, processed stuff, and the artificial sweeteners.

I'm beyond thrilled....and couldn't care less what the scale says tomorrow.

5.9 DANG!

Due to tide changeovers my walk last night ran through sunset until after dark and then started this morning in the dark and ran through sunrise into mid-morning.
Each of these was a 10 mile sand-walk.
I just figured out why I'm so darned tired today.

In other news; anyone in here remember the hundred push-ups challenge?

Well, I am having the same issue as Sylvie on the back of my arms-triceps area; the fat is gone now but the skin remains. So, I checked it out, and yep there is a one-fifty dips challenge.

There's an app for that.

It can't hurt to try!
Who do I think I'm kidding..

Good afternoon...I am now officially paralyzed and taking a day off from the gym today. On top of the muscle soreness mother nature came to call and to show Me who's boss.

Anyone have any suggestions for getting through the muscle soreness so tomorrow I can back on the horse?

I hope everyone is doing well.

I've been working through severe calf and hamstring tightness this week after trying new machines at the gym.

I doubled on magnesium, took a day off, saw the lomi lomi (Hawaiian massage) magician in the neighborhood for a free session (very sweet of him) and then had a long sleep. All these things help.

People stop going to gym when it hurt or isn't fun anymore. Try to keep it fun, and give your body rest.
