That's my story and I'm sticking to it...unlike my lifestyle change.
I love dips. Guac, salsa, chipdip, cheese dips, hummus. You got a dip? I am THERE!

Depending on your lifestyle change, there are some no-carb options for "dippers".

The "biscuit slices" of country ham. I pan fry them so they crisp up. If they are too salty, my mother's trick of boiling the ham before you fry it does draw out a good deal of the salt.

Same with thick sliced bacon. Bacon, of course, should be on the food pyramid as its own food group, IMHO.

There are these "sandwich thins" that are kinda like a pita/english muffin combined. Toast them and then cut into tiny triangles. Especially tasty with hummus.

For the record, the last two days have SUCKED for me. I've had a cold and been starving!! I am certain that bacon/spinach/feta pizza isn't on the "feed a cold, starve a pizza" list. (But it should be - I could taste it!)

Here's to sticking with what we know to be better for us and not beating ourselves up for having a not so good day (or two, or three)!

Today is a brand new day, and I know that we can all do it!

Default Tonights WLS meeting

Reminder that tonight is the weight loss support group meeting at 7PM PST/10PM EST. I am still dealing with double pneumonia and bronchitis so Spirit Dance has graciously agreed to run the meeting. The topic is "Emotional eating and ways around it".

Oprah had some cooking lady on (no idea, but I digress...) for the Super Bowl and suggested using fingerling potatoes, bake them, take them out, scoop out the middle, put a sheen of teriaki sauce on them to help them crisp up, stick them back in and when they are done, use them for your 'chips'. They're thicker, so they help you to feel full faster and are healthier than chips with all the middle out of them.

I am a white corn baked chip girl and a serving is STILL a whole 140-150 calories, depending on brand.

Thin & Crispy BBQ Chicken Pizza Snack Wedges

See Nutritional Values

DESCRIPTION
Yes! You can have pizza even when eating healthy. And you don’t have to feel guilty about it. I always serve this pizza at my Super Bowl parties and when I invite my girlfriends over for TV nights. My friends always rave and swear there’s no way its low in fat. This recipe is particularly great for kids, too!

INGREDIENTS

1 whole wheat flour, 96% fat-free tortilla (8" diameter)

2 tablespoons barbecue sauce

1/2 cup (2 ounces) finely-shredded, Cabot® 75% Light Cheddar cheese

2/3 cup (3 ounces) chopped grilled chicken breast

1/4 cup slivered red onion

1/2 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Place the tortilla on a small nonstick baking sheet. Bake for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until crisp. If air bubbles form, poke them with a fork, then press out the air with a spatula or oven mitt. Remove the sheet from the oven.

Top the tortilla evenly in layers with the sauce, cheese, chicken, onion, and cilantro. Bake for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted. Slice into 8 wedges. Serve immediately.
