I think this is fairly new.

http://www.filmsforaction.org/Watch/...zed_Economies/

In 1973, British economist E.F. Schumacher wrote “Small is Beautiful – Economics as if People Mattered”, – a book that offered a vision of an economy driven by a desire for harmony, not greed; an economy based on community and ecological values, not global financial derivatives. In the 1970s, “Small is Beautiful” helped launch a back-to-the-land movement that is the ancestor to the Local Food Revolution of today.

For the last three decades, the E.F. Schumacher Society has transformed Schumacher’s ideas into a series of practical innovations – reinventing much of the local economy of Great Barrington, Massachusetts and southern Berkshire County in the process.

Chris Bedford’s 37 minutes film, COMING HOME: E.F. Schumacher and the Reinvention of the Local Economy tells the story of the Society’s remarkable work that includes founding of the nation’s first CSA, economic development based on Community Land Trusts, and the creation of the nation’s most successful local currency – BerkShares.

Here's a comment from the site:

It's about time!
I could not stop watching this documentary, well done! It was nice to see the pay it forward acts and the movement of people getting involved throughout their journey.
I was a top athlete in high school and am still in good shape, but 15 months ago I woke up having very extreme back problems with my discs and nerves. I couldn't even move my legs and i lost count to how many doctors I have seen. I tried oral steroid packs, steroid injections in my spine, chiropractors, now currently on anti seizure meds to help with nerve pain. I hate taking the pills but they help my pain.
I was very inspired by this film and I am a strong believer that the human body is capable of healing itself with the proper diet and exercise or "healthy lifestyle". I feel I have already started to prove this when I rejected further steroid treatment and started doing yoga which has helped my pain tremendously! In fact for the fist time in 15 months, last week I was able to play basketball and it felt awesome!!!
I am buying a juicer tomorrow and will hopefully soon see some results for my condition. I would love nothing more but to get through a day with no pain and no more meds!

Incredibly inspiring...enjoy, Greco

Default "The Beautiful Truth" - Documentary with ads

"The Beautiful Truth"

Raised on a wildlife reserve in Alaska, 15-year-old Garrett was interested in the dietary habits of the farm animals. After the tragic death of his mother, Garrett's father decided to home-school his son and assigned a book written by Dr. Max Gerson that proposed a direct link between diet and a cure for cancer.

Fascinated, Garrett embarks in this documentary on a cross-country road trip to investigate The Gerson Therapy. He meets with scientists, doctors and cancer survivors who reveal how it is in the best interest of the multi-billion dollar medical industry to dismiss the notion of alternative and natural cures.

And another description of this documentarty:

A troubled 15-year-old boy attempting to cope with the recent death of his mother sets out to research Dr. Max Gerson's claims of a diet that can cure cancer as his first assignment for home-schooling in this documentary from filmmaker Steve Kroschel (Avalanche, Dying to Have Known). Garrett is a boy who has always been close to nature. He lives on a reserve with a menagerie of orphaned animals, and over the years he's become especially sensitive to the nutritional needs of the diet-sensitive animals he's charged with caring for. When Garrett's mother suffers a tragic and untimely death, the boy falls into a dangerous downward spiral and nearly flunks out of school. Increasingly concerned for Garrett's well-being and determined to strengthen their bond despite the many challenges on the horizon, his father makes the decision to begin home-schooling the distressed teen. Garrett's first assignment: study a controversial book written by Dr. Max Gerson, a physician who claims to have discovered a diet that's capable of curing cancer. Is Dr. Gerson's therapy truly the legitimate, alternative cure it appears to be? In order to find out the truth behind this long-suppressed treatment, Garrett interviews not only Dr. Gerson's family members, but various doctors, skeptics, and cancer patients as well. His studies completed and his findings revelatory, Garrett now sets out to tell the entire world about The Gerson Miracle.
