Still haven't smoked...but still having the cravings :-(. Determined not to do it...emptied my trash that had ashes in it and cigarettes smell so nasty! Ewwww. Trying to stay strong...made it this long, it would be silly to have to start over...telling that voice inside that says 'Just one...it will be ok.' to shut up! It's hard to reason with addiction. LOL

I quit smoking in April of 2011. People told me I'd be glad I did it and so far I really have been. Besides the health and money issue, I'm just glad not to have the stink on me, in my house, or in my car.

One of my biggest triggers was the smell of stale smoke in the car so I decided my lungs were worth the investment. I had the car wash shampoo it from top and bottom and my trigger vanished.

That is my advice. Get rid of your own triggers.

Good luck to all of you working so hard to stop smoking!!!

I'm still having cravings! What is up with this? Usually they are over by now. Maybe it is because I'm still using the nicotine lozenges. At least I didn't have a craving until I was awake for a couple of hours.
I'm worried about going back to work tomorrow. I think that is a huge trigger for me, especially on my breaks! Not to mention, the stress...It is tax season and it makes it crazy busy at work. I will drink LOTS of water and maybe read or something on my breaks...I may have to do the "I'm not smoking for 5 minutes" thing, 5 minutes at a time until the craving passes. I don't know why it is so hard to quit this time!
I'm glad for this thread. It does help to have a place to vent about it and also for support and it does give me more strength that I would have if I were doing this completely on my own.
You all ROCK!!

Keep using them..they are slowing or stopping the process probably...trust me..

Funny story that happened yesterday:

I had my sister put my patch on me. It needs to be taped on because they will not stay on my skin for nothing due to meopause..ha
Well last night I had 2 smokes..irrated myself but still on the program.
Found out this morning, that when she taped it on she didnt pull the tab off..so I only got a tiny piece of the patch all day..ha

So today, the patch is on right..but it does help.

I am using nicoderm patches. They seem to be the best for me.

I agree with you about the lozenges thing. As long as you are using them you will be going through some type of withdrawal as you decrease use. Subsequently, it makes sense your cravings didn't last as long in the past if you did not use nicotine replacement, as the nicotine got out of your system more quickly.

I did Chantix (so I had one time withdrawal, but it certainly wasn't as bad as quitting cold turkey), but everyone is different, and adding that now wouldn't really make sense at this juncture for you, anyway.

As an aside, "cravings" for me lasted a long, long time. I see this as different from "withdrawal".
