I have norton on here its runs scanns all the time.

now another thing is i let someone use my lap top .. and one night while i was snoozin they thought they were doing me a favor and tried fixing my problems but made it worse.
my home page no longer comes up.. it keeps telling me click here to manage .disable add on's well i tried to figure out how to do this and i get losted.
it also cuzed me to where i can no longer go into chat on the planet .. and when i try re downloading java it wont let me... i dont know im really frustrated.
this is a dell and has been a good running lap top for me for a long time.
i cant really afford a new one at this time .. sooo
anyways
hope all is well on your end .... hope to talk to you soon.
Hi there,

It's unlikely that you need a new laptop. I would suggest, however, that you probably need a very solid system check. This can be done by the likes of the Geek Squad at Best Buy or even a local computer store (likely to be cheaper than the Geek Squad).

The other option to do is to reformat it back to factory default (Dell's usually have a recovery section on the hard drive). This is another alternative but you should ensure that all critical data is backed up and you keep necessary info for applications (e.g., license codes) somewhere safe so you can restore those applications.

Default Error message using Java for chat room on bfp

Linus,
I recently just downloaded Java from the bfp chat link and now it tries to load, says Java, then bam........error click for details....class not found exception client.class

I cannot enter the chat room at all. I have windows 7 on my computer.
I even uninstalled java and went to the java website and installed from there and it still does the same thing.
Can you help me with this ? I sure would like to be able to go into chat once in a blue moon.
Thanks in advance,
Just

Which browser are you using? It sounds like when it installed the browser was open and didn't get applied to it. If you were using Internet Explorer, I suspect Firefox should work (and vice-versa). Give that a try.

I am using Firefox newest version. I have tried everything, even closing the browser and installing it, then reopening the browser. I don't know what's going on. I need your brain to pick the problem....so to speak. Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Just

It's the version the chat room says I need to download. I recently upgraded my computer and it didn't have Java on it, so when I clicked the link for chat the window showed to download the plugin which is Java 7 with Update 10. The download is the same on the Java website.
I have windows 7 now on my computer, if that helps you.

Any thoughts on this issue? I could use your help.
Thanks and Happy New Year to you and yours.
