With every dinner I am eating a large salad (kinda like Jo does). I've added more fish & seafood to my mealplans... and more protein. I boiled up a few eggs to throw into salads or to eat with a slice of toast on my way to work in the morning.

Portion control is a challenge in America, right? This morning I ate the leftovers from my grilled chicken salad in a diner last night. The piles of food they brought to our table were worthy of a hand truck. Basically I just remind myself not to eat a quantity of food the size of my head. Now that my stomach has shrunk, it's easier because it doesn't take much to feel full.

The protein part is important. It's so easy to forget how much more full protein makes a person feel. I'm glad you mentioned that.

One of my girlfriends who is vegetarian started eating less tofu and dairy and added fish and more fruit to her diet. That was it, Snap, she started losing. Everyone has their path and it sounds like you found yours.

My jeans this morning are really big on me. It's a great feeling. I started skipping meals and having smoothies for lunch at work sometimes. I skip dessert and bread in restaurants. I still drink wine with dinner once in a while, and I snack on almonds. My old habits are kicking in.

Great to see all the success here!

I'm doing Fitness Pal too....sent out a few add's this morning!

My mother-in-law is in town this weekend (yes, feel for me), so I haven't done any tracking. I haven't been great, but I haven't eaten a lot either (also, not great). The worst part for me is not doing my exercises.

It's just really challenging for me to stick with my routine when there are disruptions (disruption = mother-in-law).

I'm going to try and make today a better day and will look forward to my usual routine starting again tomorrow.

Big hugs all the way around...

Okay. Loving Myfitnesspal. But...I wish it would let me change some things...Like daily amounts available...I am not into the carbohydrate level recommended. No way, no how.

Feels good to be back on track today!!

I was up EARLY and in the backyard pulling up weeds and trimming trees and bushes. My breakfast was PERFECT, and I'm ready for a fantastic day!

Thanks to Pinkie and the others who planted the Fitness Pal seed for me. It feels much safer and smarter FOR ME to focus on the calories. And I love how it breaks down the fat, protein, carbs, etc...

Yes ! At the end of the week it's interesting to see how you did on sugars etc. That is one thing i do not like about WW (although i think it's still a good program) is that you can for example have iceberg lettuce for lunch and eat ice cream and still be in your point range. Of course you won't lose easily this way and it's probably not a bad idea from the marketing aspect.

Yup and sugar can be such a trigger food for people like me that can get so compulsive with eating. Once I get off on a sugar binge, I'm in trouble.

We are all different, however, so probably many people can have the sweets and it is OK.

For me it depends on what sugars. I get about 62g per day (average for May) but the vast majority of those grams are fruits and veggies which to me aren't a problem. So to me, it's not about the grams - but more about what's making up those grams.

I try to keep my carbohydrates between 15 and 30, but optimum weight loss, for me, happens with a limit closer to 15.
