What Are You Thankful For?

If anyone had told me that I would still be so absurdly in love with my wife almost thirteen years after we met, I would have spilled my drink. But here I am waiting for her to come home, texting her the grocery list, and I honestly just can't get over it.

My life hasn't always been perfect, and I've made some decisions that were certainly not particularly well thought out at the time. Nevertheless, all of those decisions led me into her path. How could I not be thankful?

Thankful that I finished my deep cleaning of my teeth today. Glad that's over with!

Although it's not my home, it's a coworker's... and I'm just a guest ... but thankful to come into a quiet beautiful home where I can detox from the day. It's just me here for now, with a pompom puppy and the pizza my friend left for me. Thankful I have friends that care.

I'm thankful for my 81 year old mother who said, when I told her I was transgender, "tell me more about it", in a tone of voice that was accepting and willing to learn. Today she told me she loved me and thanked me for taking care of her. It is the little things like a thank you, a tone of voice, telling someone you love them that makes the tough stuff easier to handle. I am very lucky to have a supportive family.

These kids that are not mine by birth, but are mine nonetheless, and a very sweet bubbagirl that doesn't feel good, so wanted cuddles.

I am very thankful that everyone in my family is healthy. Watching a friend go through a tremendous health scare with his wife has made my partner and I both feel extra blessed.

You never know how truly blessed you are until you are faced with a potentially life threatening health issue.

Very thankful for friends that always stand by me and never leave my side. Extremely thankful for the friend that took me to the hospital and never left me, then took me home caring for my every need. It's chosen friends that have become family. It's those family members that have touched my life and taught me what compassion is.

I'm thankful for a home away from home to recover.

Very thankful for the support group and friends I have near me. They have kept me moving forward and surviving these last few years.

Thankful for a job with good insurance and work from home flexibility.

Thankful for working with compassionate people.

Thankful for finding an Ortho that scheduled a visit very quickly.

Thankful for a quiet home to relax in.

Thankful that my 'red flag' detector is working.
