I keep getting error messages relating to my jave when i try to enter chat.. I downloaded the newest virsion, tried getting in on explorer as well as chrome.. help me forum geeks!

Hello TenderKnight, sometimes it helps deleting Java entirely first and then to download the newest version.

What kind of error messages? Do you have examples?

Nothing wrong with what you said. Sometimes, however, error messages can tell us more than just by-passing them. If we know the cause, we can prevent it from happening again.

I find that if I try to enter chat from the first page, it won't load; however, if I go to the User CP page or the New Posts page there is no problem entering chat.

Weird but it works.

ok, Linus.. uninstalled and re-installed java.. still getting the same message..

Hrmm... that usually means it's not loading the Java correctly. Were you ever able to get into chat before?

If you were, have you added or changed something recently on your system?

What operating system and browser are you using?

no, i haven't. I added "ad-aware", but was able to enter chat no problem for over a week after adding it.

This has happened before but I just can't remember what the solution was. I'm supposed to receive instant email notifications but I have not received any since yesterday and I can see several threads that should have come through, so my thingy is broke.

I've gone into my edit options and made sure it's all still checked the way I want it and it is. I've saved again but won't know for a bit if that helped or not.

What else could I do to restart that function?

Linus? I have a question tonight for you:

Sometimes when I am online here, I will be browsing threads and reading and while I am reading, the system logs me out. I don't know if this is a site related issue or maybe it's an issue concerning my notebook or an issue that is constrained to the internet connection or what.

I sometimes will become annoyed when this happens. Especially if I am making a post or what-have-you.

What do you think the issue is that I am having?
If it's my notebook or the internet, then I might be able to do something about it on my end. But I don't know if the issue is technically something on my end or if it's site related.

Any advice you have for me will be met with appreciation!
