The affection, respect, trust and dignity shared between two long time friends...
and The affection, respect, trust and dignity shared between two new friends that are in the "discovery phase" of learning about each other... Each friendship feels slightly different, in good ways... different kinds or levels of affection (how many different meanings does Italy have for "Amore"?), different feelings of respect because we all come from different walks of life, different feelings of trust and reasons why we feel we can trust the new or long time friend...but it feels good to trust and be trusted (especially with each other's safety and emotional well being) ... and Love is (no matter the meaning or the level of friendship or connection to each other) is treating each other with dignity... Love is....enjoying the company, laughter and affection from each friend... and being thankful for the connection you share with them... Love is.... when you can't imagine life without them... Love is also adopting a slow pace at getting to know new friends and not pressuring each other... |

A long time ago, in a poetry class, one of my students wrote, "Love is a mean dog."
Another student wrote, "Love is a flower that blooms in the night, and sometimes by day." We talked about each analogy and what it says about that writer's experience with love. I think love changes all the time. |
