Saw a quote the other day and to me.. it was deep.
"This time next year, you'll wish you started today." Indeed... I want to look back and say "thank goodness I started a year ago" (plus a couple of months...) I also have good news on the exercise front. When I started working out on my stationary bike back in the first of May I would do level 2 and hit a heart rate of 135 - 145. Monday - I was doing level 9 and had to really get going to hit an average of 137 for the heart rate. Woot!

Hello healthies!
i feel so defeated, i get on a good roll then wham something happens, i've been on megadoses of prednisone for about a month now. Think cravings and hungry most of the time, and not in a good way. Anyway i am being weaned off of them now, down to 10mg a day from 50mg which is a HUGE difference... So back on track i go. |

I'm 8lbs down this month. Still chugging along!
I have been on track this week! I haven't been eating all of my points. Some nights I have like 10-13 left (I only have 32). I know that's bad. I am taking topamax for migraines and it has totally suppressed my appetite. I am trying to eat more of my points so it doesnt bite me in the ass later. I didn't gain any weight on my cruise, yay! Working on getting more active and running more! It's so dang hot here!! Here's to health! :-)

Long day - i'm exhausted. Between the long work hours, the running around and errands preparing for my trip to Mtn, & of course the insane temperatures today, it was such a hot one. i wanted to come in quick and update (since i havent yet) on my Weigh in on Thursday. How excited was i to find out i lost another 6 lbs. i now weigh in at 201 lbs (started at 315 lbs) and have lost a total of 114 lbs forever. This week i need to do measurements.. Also, i have ran my 2nd 5k practice run, and it was wonderful.. Really pushing myself, and SO enjoying the running.. It's really something i look forward to. i also started hills, that same night after running 5k.. i ran 2 hills in a row, pretty proud of myself.. In September i will be starting Martial Arts, quite excited about that.. i have SO much i want to share re: my eating, exercise, weight loss, etc. But soooo need to get at my stuff & get my butt to bed, Daddy's orders. i'll be back to catch up with you all & update some more!

Hello and Good Day to all the Healthies here! Or Good Night depending where you might be...
As I formulate a decent thesis statement I am going thru some of the basics of what goes into figuring out the mysteries of our bodies, our cravings, our legacies... Leptin Reset Easy Start Guide How to start the Leptin Reset and regain Leptin Sensitivity Step One: Are You Leptin Resistant? The Leptin Rx…FAQs Overweight, large appetite and craving carbs are signs you’re Leptin Resistant. If you are fit and in decent shape, then your reverse T3 will be elevated, also indicating you’re Leptin Resistant Step Two: Follow a strict Paleolithic diet For best results follow the diets outlined in The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet by Robb Wolf or The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson Step Three: Eat within 30 minutes of rising Make sure breakfast is little to no carbs (less that 50 grams) LOTS of protein (50-75 grams) Overweight: limit carbs to 25 grams Fit: less than 30 carbs DO NOT count calories Step Four: How to eat/use your fuel (most important) NO SNACKING! Snacking destroys timing and circadian clocks that work in unison with Leptin Most will notice a change in cravings within 4-6 weeks Eat 3 meals a day initially (as your hunger and cravings fade you can adapt to 2 a day) Other DOs and DON’Ts Do not work out before or after breakfast (if you must work out do it after 5pm) which is when I always had my advanced ballet classes, back to back... and guess what, my body loved that timing! Do allow 4-5 hours between dinner and bedtime Trouble sleeping? Do 3-5 minutes of body weight exercises (i.e. pushups or squats) Signs it’s working: Change in your sweating pattern Energy levels will rise Hunger and cravings will become less and eventually disappear When you awaken you will feel refreshed and well rested Men: quicker weight loss Women: Mood changes (calmer/sleepy), then sleep will improve. Clothes will fit differently and weight loss will occur if you continue the program *Note: When all signs are present, I recommend exercise with heavy weights Food Sources: For breakfast: Pastured/organic eggs; grass fed meat, poultry and fish; protein shakes (less ideal) Cooking oils when using carbs: (liberal amounts) butter, heavy cream, coconut oil, or palm oil. Avoid nut or seed oils in initial stages. http://jackkruse.com/easy-start-guide/ |

I have spoken about this doctor a lot over the years. And in honour of the Ancestral Health Symposium that is going on up in Boston AND the research paper I am writing, I thought a reminder of some of what I have gleaned along this road less traveled might help those of us interested in what our bodies are designed to do, genetically speaking, evolutionarily speaking, to what we have adapted to over the centuries. We simply were not designed to sit so many hours in front of some screen, electronics flashing lights and throwing off our circadian rhythms, sleep deprived, sugar and grain fed... couple of hundred years ago, only the King and those around him got to eat sugar and white flour the way we do today. It takes a really long time to genetically change. My premise in my research is coming to some scientific evidence of what I know works, what makes my body run better, clears my mind and gives me energy... a clean feeling. One would think that vegan diet would do that, which I have honestly tried. The carb cravings were incessant and down right debilitating for me anyways. Now to experiment with more subjects than just me! |

prednisone is some evil ass medication, though it also has huge benefits Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, and your family, as those around you get to enjoy some of those wonderful side effects My patients would have some of the many side effects, especially in the dead of the night. Alas I did not realize just how awful those side effects were until I had to be on some of those powerful meds. My doctor gave me valium to ensure that the side effects would not be quite as severe. They still were quite life altering. I loved my job dearly and those dang meds led to a cascade of behavioural changes. I take complete resposibility for what I did at that time. Thru adversity and pain we can and do learn so much we never would have otherwise. Still sucked, big time. sad but true definitely have to be cruel to be kind somedays, no? and it is also true that kindness can be the cruelest thing of all, what I like to call modley coddling sort of drivel that people with the bestest intentions ever. end up enabling and codifying the problem - only post pone the inevitable and making things much worse often times. Sort of like taking out a splinter, faster is better... but I so digress ~ You will soon feel much much better and appreciate your body's wisdom. We are walking talking miracles, no doubt about it! My heart goes out to you, hon. Take care, I know you always do. Eventually, I pray, we all do, no? Glad you are back in the proverbial saddle! Back on track is a good thing. |

I finally detoxed from the pack of stale graham crackers that I ate over a month ago!
I can't believe how long it took this time for the craving for sweets to go away. I knew I couldn't touch cookies/pies/cakes, etc. but I honestly thought Grammies would not be a trigger for me: Wrong! I walked by the sweets at Starbucks today and scoffed at them. A couple of weeks ago, my Pavlovian response would have been in full force. In other news, I dropped 5 pounds in a week. Nothing like, oh never mind. I shall keep going on my weight loss journey because I must. Looking for 10-15 more. Hang in there fellow healthies

This thread has not been very busy lately!
It must be because everyone is so busy being healthy, right? Perhaps just dealing with real life! I have lost 7-pounds. I am building up my endurance again. I really can't believe how deconditioned I got during my recovery from 2 major surgeries, plus other wonderful medical things! I have been doing stairs again, 2-3 times a day, 4-5 floors and each flight has 24 steps. The first couple of times, I was so out of breath and my thighs were shaking (not in the having fun kind of way, if you catch my drift, ahem...) but it has gotten much easier. I am sticking to 1200-1400 calories a day, which is what I have to do to lose. Biggest thing: I have total control again and no cravings. When I go off the eating wagon, I forget that it is totally a mental thing, that control over eating. When I have lost control in the past, I begin to feel like a failure and it spirals downward from there. I just have to stay in this good headspace right now. I could so easily slip. I hope everyone else is hanging in there

Bravo Anya! It's good to see you back on track.
![]() I'm making progress, slow and steady....and I'm good with that. I'm at the monthly high point of weight (when will that end?????) due to hormones and water weight...and still weighed in this morning at 196. That's my high number these days, so a big improvement over my struggle to break the 200 mark. Hope you're all having a great weekend so far!

In Oregon, and most definitely have entered Daddy Bootcamp, heh. Disciplined meals and portions, running each morning, and weights and core every other day... Lots of time for recovery work as well... But also enjoying many walks, so much to explore, and so much wonderful time with Him and the pup.. i'm home, and that's the best feeling in the world.. <3 i've been spending my time with Him helping at the restaurant, it's full force busy and loving the ability to live each day with Him.. Love the environment, the people, i fit..Ya know? So, it really helps so much in the spectrum of being good to myself and detoxing (as Anya put it) from the life back in NB, and building a much stronger and healthier version of me.. i'm developing a healthy relationship with food again, which is the most important part.. At the restaurant, the prep cook yesterday was making a very yummy treat which smelled delicious, and not once did i walk by there craving them or wanting them, which is a sign i'm getting back into a very healthy mindframe again.. Last weigh in was 114 lbs lost. i won't weigh in again for awhile, and that's okay.. i'm not even obsessing it for a change which is a big thing for me, as you all know i obsess numbers, greatly. Not today though..Something else to celebrate. Just got home from my run, about to shower, eat breakfast and run down to help out at the restaurant for the day. *smiles* Have a happy, happy day healthies!
