I want to thank everyone here for such kind and wonderful (and a few musicals, too!!) birthday wishes. Thank you so much. I'm very lucky to have such a fine chosen family here on The Planet. I know I haven't been posting much these days, but with work and family and .....well.....soon to be legally married to L, I've been seriously busy!!!

It's been a wonderful holiday season and a great birthday, too, since my sweetie and all of my (immediate) family (90 y/o Mom, Dad, Sister, Niece, 2 of my Chinese cousins, both of whom I absolutely adore, and my dear friend, Irenie) has been here visiting since before Christmas. What a beautiful season it has been, indeed, full of love, joy and so many fine laughs that only families share. This house that I've been rattling around in by myself for so many years has finally become a home, full of love, joy and happiness. I am so very blessed. This is the stuff that dreams are made of and I'm not taking one second of it for granted.

So, as I write this, on this, my 52nd birthday, I'm listening to the chirping of the crickets in their box beside The Big Frog House. The fire is going in the fireplace and L is in the other room chatting with her kids on Skype. As happy as I am, however, my thoughts have wandered back to the (birth) mother I've never known, and I can't help but wonder if she's alive and thinking of me on this day, wondering whatever became of the two "girls" she gave up for adoption over 50 years ago. Is it her "secret" today, kept in that secret place that every woman carries in her heart of hearts, or does she wonder about me/us with the company of her family today?? I might not ever find out. Anyway, wherever she is, alive or dead, I do think of her and I hope that her heart knows that she did, in fact, do the best and most loving thing for my sister and me by giving us up and, therefore, giving us the chance that she couldn't give us. I love her for that, if for nothing else, but I do wonder about her.
