FEMME DAY!

Happy Belated International Femme Appreciation Day.

Yesterday afternoon Julie told me it was Int'l. Femme Appreciation Day. We have not been out socially very much as of late and last night I accompanied my beautiful Femme wife to her good friend's birthday party in SF. I really did not want to go because I have trepidation when attending small, primarily straight gatherings.

To my pleasant surprise I enjoyed myself but more importantly, my femme enjoyed herself very much and spending time with her lifelong friend, (they met in 4th grade) means so much to the two of them.

I cannot imagine a world without femmes. Thank you to all of the femmes for being who you are and thank you to that one very special femme in my life.

We saw a movie last night called 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan'. It's a beautiful movie, dealing as it does with the special relationship between two pairs of Chinese women (born in different times) and the 'laotong' - sisterhood? - relationship that binds them. Reminded me a lot of the femme-femme relationships I see here and whenever I'm lucky enough to share space with other femmes (which sadly, isn't that often).
