Really early on, it is on record that I wanted to be an Avon Lady. I think I must have had a crush on my mother's Avon Lady, whose name was Stacia, which, just hearing in my head, makes me envision pink cashmere sweaters and puffs of pink powder.

Later I wanted to be a writer or a psychologist. I became an editor, which is really kind of like being a writer and a psychologist.

Wonderwoman...no joke. I actually answered the question of "what do you want to be when you grow up" with that exact answer when I was in kindergarten. But let me say now, it's not nearly as cool as I thought it would be.
