She packs my lunches and always makes sure I have enough to keep me full.

She sneaks snacks into my backpack for me to find.

She helps me count my carbs to make sure I am dosing my insulin correctly.

I know I'm loved because two of my friends went totally out of their way (over two days) to see to it that I made it to a special doctor appointment. Neither one of them were expected to help, but they both are deeply appreciated for making sacrifices and standing by me.

I know I am loved because they have stuck beside me through the biggest hardship of my life. And they talk about my homemade meatloaf and pick-eye-purple-hull peas like it's the best meal ever.

I know I'm loved by my dog when he patiently and quietly allows me to sleep in and he lays his head on my chest when I ask for a puppy hug.

I know I'm loved by dear friends (living in the next county over) who have made time for me during their busy day to call at their lunch almost every day to ask how I'm doing and truly be interested and listen.

I know I'm loved when old friends from Shenandoah beg me to come visit when I plan my next trip.

I know I'm loved when I hear my grown son say "but you're my momma".

I know I'm loved when my friend's husband says "we'll take care of that for ya" after I had been stressing out about going to the dealership alone.

I know I'm loved when I find the rare cotton candy ice cream for a certain friend who would think the world had ended if Hershey ever stopped making it.

I know I'm loved by a wonderful young man that's been in my life since he was a baby and has always given me the best bear hugs ever. I can't wait to reunite with him soon in Shenandoah.

Because she shows me...she let's me know she's thinking about me. She pays attention to what I say. She does things she doesn't want to do because they are things I like. She goes out of her way to make sure I'm happy. She checks in when she thinks something is wrong. She considers me when she's making big decisions. She cares about the things that matter to me.
