We saw two movies this weekend. Now that we are not working on my house every weekend, we looked at each other, asked what we should do instead and said, in unison: "The movies!"
We saw the first one entitled Spy, with Melissa McCarthy. She was funny but the F word seemed to be every other word and they used the C word a couple of times and I really hate that derogatory word! We got great seats and the movie starts and in comes a woman pushing a baby carriage! WTF? She also brought a boy around 5 or 6 and they stayed throughout the movie. I kept wanting to cover his ears and felt very uncomfortable! Yes, the baby cried periodically throughout the movie. The movie was funny in parts and I do like Melissa but the language was over the top <<<< getting old, grannie. The second one we saw this weekend was very good. It was a science fiction but for all that I know, the technology may already be in practice. It made you think and entertained at the same time. I always like that in a movie! Ex Machina ![]()

I forgot! We also saw Jurassic World.
Pure escapism, great special effects, not much of a story line and same general premise as Jurassic Park. It is more violent than Jurassic Park and not for small children. My GF's 5-year-old nephew is obsessed with dinosaurs. He recognizes them on sight, knows all of their names and really wants to go to this movie but it would be totally inappropriate to take him to see this one. Sorry, little guy.

We finally saw "Spy" last night!
I love Melissa McCarthy, and she was hugely funny! But....I felt the movie over-all was a spoof on the improbable "one person takes down the crime ring" spy movies of the past. Maybe that's what it was supposed to be and i didn't get it, but i was a little disappointed anyway; Something funny but original would have been nice for a change. As for the language...most people don't talk like that, and it is really jarring to the senses. During those times she was spewing her swear words, i became disengaged from the movie...it just wasn't nessasary to go on like that. |

Watched "Air Force One" on TV in French ( no subtitles ) How the Hell did Harrison Ford EVER make a career as an actor? The man has only 2 facial expressions: granite or panic... and if you're only understanding every fifth word of dialogue it's that much worse.

Manglehorn Al Pacino, Holly Hunter
The Seattle times gave this flick 3 stars out of 4 HOWEVER I felt it was a slow, boring, and tedious little thing that lasted way TO LONG! ![]() |
