Okay, if the kid got equally upset and embarrassed because the adult accompanying him carried and wore Zuni fetishes, sexualized or not, I would still handle the situation by starting with the kid and his feelings about it. I would not just make him "deal with it." He's a child. That's why children have parents--to help them deal with things. In case anyone wonders, I would approach it this same way if the issue were with lesbians. For example, if my kid didn't want both mommies going to the parent-teacher conference.
