My experiences have been dismal.
These days, I take each day as it comes. I wake up and say "this is where I want to be" and that's good enough for now. Could I, would I, want more from a relationship in the future? Could I, would I, ever again consider promising a lifetime commitment? ... Perhaps. After a very long engagement. And a rock solid prenup. Not very romantic, I know.
