TDLEF: Trans Defense, Legal and Education Fund: Organization in NYC that helps trans individuals, for free, with name change (you have to pay for the copies of the name change and paper publishing only)

GIP: Gender Identity Project: Run out of the LGBTQ Center in NYC, they provide resources and support groups (free and no intake requirement; just respect the rules)

Callen-Lorde LGBTQ Health Center: provides trans friendly medical care and the HOTTs program for young trans individuals (whether they have a home or not).

Community Health Network (Bronx location specifically): provides trans friendly health care and programs

My friend Tony started the Jim Collins Foundation and has been doing a great job of getting it going. The aim of the foundation is to raise money so that transfolks who can't afford surgery can be helped. He has been doing all sorts of fund raisers in Southern New England and the NYC area.

They are just getting started so I don't know when they will be able to help anyone with their surgery finances, but it's a good group of people to get involved with. Tony is really good at organizing and getting things done so I have no doubt that the Jim Collins Foundation will grow and grow.

Does any of you guys know of a good doctor in or near Norwood Mass. My friend is looking for a trans friendly doctor. He's in transition right now and his doctor is not very helpful or understanding.

Hey Organic!

I don't personally know of any doctors in MA, but here is a link that might help your friend. He will need to click on the Resources tab for a list of health care providers.
