Hey Mist good job on the grocery list! Sounds delish. What is the grams of sugar in this tea, does it have some? How about the calories? It sounds good. I was going to suggest to you and Matthew since you are both Pepsi drinkers to try Pepsi Max for something different and healthy. Someone suggested it to me and I tried it and surprisingly it is pretty darn good. It has no sugar and no calories.

For dinner I'm grilling a 6 oz sirloin steak and having some yellow squash. My breakfast was turkey bacon, egg beaters and 1/2 slice pepperjack on a thin whole wheat bun for 200 calories. I snacked on an apple and for lunch I had the same bun but with deli cajun chicken breast, 1/2 slice cheese, spinach, tomato, onion, and mustard for another 200 calories.

LOL Mist. I thought you were a Pepsi drinker. Coke sucks. I"M JK. . I think Coke has something similar if you're interested. . maybe Coke Zero? Not too bad on that drink for calories. I tend to like to stay away from sugar though and rather take my calories in food. haha. I may try it though as a substitute for a drink sometime and something different. Lipton makes good teas and mango passion sounds yummy. thanks bro.

LOL no worries bro. I have had coke zero. But this nutritionist has me staying away from soda completely even the zero's and diet. Because of the artificial sweetener. The reason why is because I have tried before to have the Coke ZERO but it still made me want a real coke. And I would cheat and soon be back to what I was eating before. I have to cut it out completely or I will go back...

It's worth going cold turkey and stopping the soda completely. It's hard...but I found going off the artificial sweeteners helped me get rid of cravings for more than just soda. I find myself wanting sweets, junk food, fast food...all the "baddies' far, far less now that I'm off the artifical sweeteners completely.

Ok not to be nasty or anything but I went to the Health Food store today. And was talking to the sales rep there about taking vitamins. I told her I was trying to get my weight down, and starting a life change.

She told me to do a Fifteen Day cleanse and flush. She told me that it would flush all of the "bad" out of my system. So I am on it. Im supposed to eat right, and take these supplements twice a day for 15 days

I will let you all know how it goes. Also, I am looking into Ali when I am done. I have friends who have tried it and it worked.

Just food for thought

Please don't take this the wrong way; but the people who work at GNC or any other health food store are not trained on how vitamins work within our bodies. They are giving a *training* manual. If your curious about this, ask a dietician or nutritionist. That cleanse could hurt you in the long run. I don't believe in fad diets or quick ways of losing weight.

Please be careful.

I hate to give unasked for advice but anyone and everyone can call themselves a nutritionist. It is an unlicensed, unregistered title. Any of us can get the piece of paper on the Internet.

A Registered Dietician or an RD, is a degreed person and it is a profession into itself. They are the true nutritionist.

There are also Registered Nurses that are certified diabetic specialists and have additional education and certification with expertise in nutrition.

Our bodies naturally cleanse themselves. We do not retain "toxins" in our bowels. Yes they are full of flora and fauna (so-to-speak) but that is their job (as long as that is where they stay-nuff said about that in the morning).

Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance is very possible with too much "cleansing". My caveat is to be very careful with anything that you do. Check with your doctor to be sure and if you feel ill at all, stop.

Re: Alli. There is no easy way to lose weight. As with diet pills, there is always a cost when taking a short-cut.

I hope I do not offend but sometimes it is difficult to ignore my own training and background when I fear for the health of another.

Green tea is wonderful stuff with health benefits as well.
Sounds like a good substitute to help you get off the soda habit.

Oh God yes... Also, I bought some sugar free Apple Juice. I can say alot bad about my adopted mother but she taught me nutrition. I just have a hard time remembering things. But when I was growing up I loved Apple Juice. Still do...

Was feeling like chinese food for dinner, and also too tired to go grocery shopping...so did a homemade version of pork fried rice that was very tasty (even the boys liked it) and much healthier.

I cooked 1 cup of basmati rice in 2 cups of fat free, low sodium beef broth (for more flavor). While it was cooking I heated up the wok with a tiny bit of extra virgin olive oil and added....
  • 1 large sweet yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 1 large sweet red pepper, chopped

I stir-fried the veggies until they were about half tender, then diced up all of the leftover pork roast and added it, along with about a cup of frozen peas.

Once the pork was hot and the peas were done, I added low-sodium soy sauce to taste...then stirred in about 2 cups of the cooked rice (leaving about a cup for something else).

Another minute in the wok and it was done....tasty, low fat, healthy oil, low sodium (by comparison to usual chinese food) and a much higher veggie and lean meat to rice ratio.

It served 3...but Rooster had seconds.
