A Parent’s Pledge

They came together in love and passion to make you
They tended to you with all the love and care in their hearts
For you are part of them as they are of you for now and always
They made you out of their glory for life and for one another

You share a bond no one will comprehend, nor should they
For you are unique and they would have it no other way
It’s a bitter price they pay to let you go out into this world alone
Knowing you will stumble and fall, but you can always come home

Home no longer lives for they have moved on to another place
But inside your heart, if you look with loves eyes you will find
That piece of them they left behind inside of you, to give you courage
So that you may face this world alone, they have prepared you the best they could

Take with you and grow them inside of your soul, which is what they would want
Keeping them with you every second of everyday as you shall stumble again one day
Know that they did their best even when you wanted more they gave it without question
As they will do forever more, because they made you out of love and the passion of living.

Live my darling, live high and proud, be strong when you can and cry when you must
No one can ask for more than that not even them, for they made you just like them
Take the joys you had together and capture them inside of you, remember them when you are able
For they will bring your heart a new understanding of love between a parent and a child

While I know you desperately want just one more moment, one more smile, one more kiss
There will be an eternity of time for that when you go home to them
For there is only one forever and that is in heaven my love, with all the time, time will allow
Grow strong and rekindle your passion for life, as they once had when they made you

It’s a hard thing to do, which we must all endure at one time or another, to say goodbye
To set them free to the next place in time, so they may go on and await for you to come
Take time to remember the love they gave to you and find a way to love yourself as they do
For love never dies my darling, it just grows and sometimes moves away, but it never dies

They made you from their love and passion for life
They loved you with all they had and more
They will never be gone just not where you want them
But remember they love you even now from where they are
