Im not sure how to go about it, but maybe we could have online support meetings in one of the chat rooms at specific times and maybe discuss different challenges, strategies etc?? I would be willing to organize it and run it.

*waiting for the end of the train to add my kaboos to it* At my heaviest, I was 240 and then went down to 190 and have settled into about 210. I am totally on board with this. The hardest part for me is going to the gym alone (I have a slight form of agrophobia). It seems easier to have a plan with a friend.

Hi all. Another 'chubbette' here. I have struggled with weight all my life.
Candace, when I was your age I wore a size 9, and remained at that size 'til my late 30's. I have since then gradually and steadily put on the pounds. I am now 67 years old, and 70 lbs overweight. I certainly don't have the skin elasticity you do, but I believe if I lose the weight gradually/slowly, and go on an exercise program that's suited to my physical capabilities, I can achieve results I can be happy with. My closet has enough sizes to open up a clothes store! They range from size medium to X1. Currently my slacks size is 18, but I have lost a pound or two within the last few months. I am retired, and don't have any sort of social or active life, so that has got to change as well. I'm hoping that with the good weather that's approaching, I will get out more and start walking. My best wishes to all of you who are struggling with your weight. Remember, it's not just about 'looking good', it's about your health, and avoiding the pitfalls of excess weight. Good luck, and thank you for starting this thread. I will be a frequent visitor. p.s. The South Beach Diet is an excellent way to jump start your weight loss program. I went on it several years ago, and lost 30 lbs in 3 months time. Sadly I've gained it all back and then some. The mindset must be: this is not a temporary change of diet - it's a lifetime committment. |

I had a lovely person message me and offer "the complete food counter". it gives calories protein carb fat sodium counts for stuff.
*smiles* Anyone want it? P.S. ALSO.......I read through the jump start Biggest Loser thing...and it's awesome. I already purchased my groceries though..and this has a day by day menu guide of stuff to eat. It's great for those of us unsure of our caloric intake...unsure of what to make..or just plain NOT inventive with cooking. It tells you exactly what to eat for 30 days. I'm going to stick as close as I can with this menu...substituting other recipe's for which I've already bought ingredients from the other biggest loser guide. |

So I'm a huge Alton Brown fan. I just watched his latest (I think) Good Eats show. He shares some of his weight loss techniques. He shared a smoothie recipe that he says he has every morning (or a variation of). I think I am going to try that as part of my routine.
Part of what he said is something I've heard before...that people who eat breakfast lose weight faster. He shared the smoothie recipe, a totally disgusting sardines on toast recipe as well as a yummy toasted almonds recipe. Of the almonds he said one ounce twice a day was his limit. Not sure I can stick to his plan but I know I love smoothies so I am going to incorporate those into my eating plan. ![]() Sorry I don't remember the episode title. I know it had "diet" in the title though. The most interesting thing to me was that he lost 50 lbs in 9 months and claims to have never eaten anything with the word "diet" in the title. ![]() |

If anyone has On Demand, you can look in the Fitness section. Jillian has a couple of routines in there and the routines held in the O.D. section rotate so you would never get bored.

Hey Candace and everyone! I'm totally in as well! I'm almost done with my two week vacation and so next week I'm going to be getting on a new routine and stuff. I haven't weighed myself lately, but I know I'm hovering around 250 and would like to be about 100lbs less. I am worried about my health definitely. On monday I am going to start school and a new exercise routine to go with it. Then next friday I'm going to do the Master Cleanse to clean my body out, and after that's done, I am going to finally start my eating plan. I purchased the Food Lovers Fat Loss System last year and have yet to use it. Its amazing though and I love the guy who developed it. http://foodloversfatloss.com
Good luck to everyone! |

I think you're doing great! I also love reading your post and hearing about your challenges. I even visited a few sites.
I suck at counting and keeping track. Last year I was feeling like crap. I had pain in my chest, stomach and for years trying to lose 50 lbs I picked up after a break-up. anyhow, I looked into a diet called "Eat to Live". It seemed really extreme but I was ready to not only lose weight but heal my body. I adapted it quite a bit and lost a lot in a short amount of time. I struggled because I still like meat now and then and eat organic chicken. It was also hard to center your life around eating but I will say this... I never felt better. I still eat things I really love just not as much. I love tacos and buy free range bison and organic ground turkey. Here's the key and if you do this, just add this, it will greatly improve your health which will also help you naturally lose and begin to change your life. I bought a Bullet Express. I juice carrots, ginger, celery and some kind of green- kale, spinach, whatever. I also chopped cabbage, broccoli, parsley, all kinds of raw veggies. Put some olive oil and balsamic and some crumbled goat cheese. I also do a fruit smoothie. Frozen berries, a banana, pineapple, frozen mango and a bit of organic soy milk. I make a BIG one too. Its very filling so many times i have this later in the day to help with my cravings. I try to get as many raw fruits and veggies in my diet as I can. I make brown rice ahead and throw in all kinds of stuff. I eat whole wheat wraps with humus and more greens. BUT I also eat other stuff, however many times I'm full from all the greens. I dont count anything. I focus on getting as many nutrients into my body as I can and stay away from processed food. The other thing that helps me is that I make stuff ahead. Not just salads but chili, curry stews, things that are comforting, warm and will curb some cravings. I just make sure I add a salad or something. I also buy organic fruit babyfood simply because some things are hard to get where I live and you run out. I want to get at least 6 servings of fruit a day... pears, blueberries, banana, mango, etc. Im in a hurry I eat babyfood or I run out of fruit. I grow a lot but with this diet I need to increase but I dont grow fruit in winter. I started figuring out cost, gas, time and availability. In the winter it makes more sense for me to www.diamondorganics.com the food is shipped FREE overnight and its really fresh. Fresher then the stores. I get a large sampler packaged for 115 (12 lbs of produce) and that last me about 10 days. I still buy my organic carrots and tubs of spinach elsewhere. You have to do what works for you. This works for me and I am noticing a difference in every aspect of my life. I do a pint of ice cream once or twice a month, love fresh bread and other goodies. I treat myself and I am still losing and week by week notice lots of things. I fell off over the holidays, ate too much crap an within 2 weeks felt like crao again and quickly got my ass in gear. I just stopped smoking again, FIVE DAYS now and really feeling good.
